Spring classics beckon Brooklyn
Prince of Brooklyn

Eliza Park International sire Magnus has zoomed to over $4 million in progeny earnings this season…helped along by boom colt Prince of Brooklyn who captured Friday’s $100,000 Elvstroem Classic at Swan Hill.

The $60,000 first prize has enhanced Prince of Brooklyn’s kitty following his debut victory in taking out the G3 National Stakes at Morphettville a fortnight ago.

Star filly returns to Royal Ascot
Anthem Alexander

Starspangledbanner filly Anthem Alexander booked another visit to Royal Ascot after winning the G3 Lacken Stakes (1200m) at Naas on Sunday.

Making her seasonal return for jockey Pat Smullen and trainer Eddie Lynam, she eased from 6/4 to 5/2 but the result was never in doubt once she challenged pacemaker The Happy Prince (Rip Van Winkle) at the furlong.

Black-type Rewards for Spendthrift Farm
Requite

Warrior’s Reward (USA) sired a stakes winning double on the weekend in advance of his arrival at Spendthrift Victoria.

His first crop three-year-old Warriorscmoutoplay won the Jostle Stakes (1300m) in Philadelphia on Saturday and Requite landed the Big Cypress Hcp (1400m) at Gulfstream Park on Sunday.

Jabali strikes for Eliza Park International
Jabali

Jabali went a long way to securing a spot on the Eliza Park International roster with a Group 2 victory in the Queensland Guineas (1600m) on Saturday.

The Mick Price trained colt had been runner-up in last year’s G1 Blue Diamond Stakes but didn’t capitalise during spring and autumn preps in Melbourne.  Winning jockey Jim Byrne was impressed at Doomben.

Primus progeny Burning
Luskin Belle

Primus filly Luskin Belle came from the clouds to win for the third time at Swan Hill on Saturday.

Luskin Belle (3f Primus – Southern Heights by Luskin Star) burst through a gap in the straight to blouse out front-runner Caves by a short-head in the Wayne Humphrey Memorial (1600m).

Winning comeback for Kiwi
Sir Mako

Sir Mako has made a remarkable recovery from knee surgery and a tendon injury that threatened to derail his career in New Zealand.

Now with Chris Waller at Rosehill, his comeback continued with a determined victory in the Courtenay House Hcp (2000m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Equiano stakes winner in Italy
Equiano

Swettenham shuttler Equiano notched his latest black-type result when Fly On The Night won the LR Premio Alessandro Perrone (1100m) in Rome on Tuesday.

The unbeaten filly scored by a length from La Vacanza (Aussie Rules).  She had won on debut in the Premio Marguerite Vernaut (1000m) at the Capannelle on May 1.
