NAR legislative analysis of flood insurance program
The September 30 deadline to reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is fast approaching and real estate professionals must be prepared.
Voting in the House on a flood reform package may take place as early as this week. Following are the key points:

> NAR is supportive of many components of the House package including:
  - Strengthening access to private flood insurance as well as the NFIP
  - $1 billion investment in mitigation so homeowners can lower their flood risk
  - Streamlines community flood map appeals process
  - A new overall cap on premiums ($10,000)

> NAR is asking for three specific things before the House votes on the package:
  - NAR opposes the provision ending grandfathering of properties remapped after four years
  - NAR is asking Congress to provide full-cost impacts for a range of policyholders
  - NAR is asking Congress to direct the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to produce building-specific maps with elevation data
For further background and information, visit NAR’s latest update on the NFIP state of play and the most up to date talking points

Don’t risk deactivation of your ARMLS/MLS access
If you have not already paid your ARMLS/MLS fees, the due date has past (July 1) and nonpayment will result in deactivation on Monday, July 10. Additionally, late fees may be assessed increasing your total fee due. To avoid deactivation and possible late fees, go online to and log in with your FLEXMLS credentials, or call ARMLS at 480-921-7777.
