Ephesians – as alive and fresh today as the day Paul wrote it!

The Roadshow team from FEH travelled to Northampton last week to pray with the local The Way of the Spirit team there. There is something happening! It was a powerful time encountering God and getting his heart for these roadshows. (The second is in the planning stages too now, it will be in Manchester 9-10th June - booking details to follow soon).

There is no doubt that it is 'in the going' that God provides, whether it is strength, revelation, financial provision, or whatever is needed, things always come together when we walk forwards with him. As we have stepped out in obedience towards the Northampton roadshow, expectation of what he will do is mounting.

In early January God began telling us that it is time that we lived as those established and firm in the truth of who we are in Christ – on the chair to use recent The Way of the Spirit parlance. More biblically perhaps, we would say: living from the place God has placed us, in Christ, in heavenly places. It is time to get onto the chair, or back onto the chair, never to fall off again! It is one thing to occasionally reach those giddy heights, it is quite another to remain, and live in and from that place.

The letter Paul wrote to the saints in Ephesus is full of exhortation to know God's power and to live from the place of victory he has put us in, not for it. In chapter one Paul excitedly shows us where we are and just what Christ has achieved for us, and the last chapter he encourages us to live in the power and authority that are ours in him. The in-between chapters are equally thrilling, whether revealing the part the body is to play, or the day-to-day ways in which we are to live it all out, playing our part in foreshadowing all things coming 'together under one head even Christ ', God's ultimate goal (1.10).

Listen: the gospel is not just about ME. It is much more exciting. It is about finally letting go of our self-ish-ness in order to get caught up into God's big plan for all creation. Are you ready? It is time for you and I to take our places, established once for all in our faith and standing firm. Not moving backwards ever again, playing our part.
