It's HOT in Ntinda, Kampala

Season of fruitfulness

I am sitting on the balcony on a warm and sunny afternoon in Ntinda, north Kampala. The 6-strong team from the UK has just arrived for two glorious weeks with African pastors and leaders from 6 nations, who have so far attended 22 weeks of training over the past three years.

The progress of the training in Uganda over recent times has been remarkable. After many missions to Africa during the past 13 years we are now seeing fruit growing quickly – fruit that will last.

Impact in Africa is not limited to Kampala! Right now there is a team ministering in Burundi to Burundian and Congolese Pastors, so hungry for more living bible teaching, and in a week or so another team departs the UK for Zambia, where 60 pastors will commence The Way of the Spirit Certificate in Biblical and Prophetic Faith over a series of residential conferences.

These missions are mere first-fruits of course of what God is going to do as we look forward to him filling the whole world with fruit (Isaiah 27.6). He has said it, he will do it.

Israel, the church and The Way of the Spirit

Recently at FEH Jane Urquhart spent time with the whole ministry sharing her heart for the work Kingdom Faith is doing in Israel and how God drew her into it from a place of, if not quite disinterest, at least wondering about the relevance of it all in an otherwise busy life as a church leader.

In preparation for her visit we all read The Jewish Jesus, by David Hoffbrand (recommended) which presents a simple, readable and clear account of why the church should be aware of what is happening to Israel today. With Jane we spent time deep in the bible, Old Testament and New, heard about historical events, not always well known, and heard of reconciliation work happening between believing Jews and Arabs today. We wrestled together to make sense of certain scriptures and debated difficult questions. It was a good time of  vulnerability and discovery before the text and in the light of history, ancient and modern.

We were grateful for Jane’s openness,  especially that she didn’t pretend to have all the answers but helped us begin to navigate the tricky waters which, like her, some of us had rather lazily left unchartered.

We have concluded that God is speaking to us (The Way of the Spirit) about Israel and his heart for the Jewish people (not, it must be added, at anyone else’s expense) and for the many promises to them which remain as yet unfulfilled. We saw together, more clearly than ever, how we the church have been grafted into them, not them into us, and how God’s purpose is for both Jews and Gentiles to fulfil their distinct callings in distinct ways.

We, the team at The Way of the Spirit, will spend the coming months delving further into scripture and into recent history, to attempt to equip ourselves so we can teach – with zeal and knowledge – what the (whole) bible teaches. We plan to have a conference on Israel, the bible and the church sometime in 2018. Watch this space.

Advanced Diploma

If you have completed at some stage in the past your Diploma in Prophetic Bible teaching, part-time or full-time, you’re eligible to attend the Advanced Diploma in Prophetic Bible Teaching, taught over two schools during the first half of 2018. Whereas the part-time course is now held and thriving in three UK centres, the advanced is only held in Norwich.

The two schools will take place on 21-24 March & 20-23 June 2018 starting late Wednesday afternoon and ending Saturday lunchtime on each occasion. There will be certain work to complete between schools. There have been many great testimonies from graduates from previous schools. This course is essential for anyone called to develop their ministries and calls in The Way of the Spirit.
