When the weather and time changes, gumbo season is in full-effect in Shreveport-Bossier. Louisiana chefs, grandmothers, and foodies are putting love, warmth, and Cajun components into a pot and pouring it over rice, grits, or potato salad. We’re serious about our gumbos out here, but we’re also trying to narrow down the best of the best, whether it be seafood gumbo, chicken and sausage gumbo, gumbo served with crackers or even gumbo with a side of toasted bread.
So we are asking gumbo lovers… which restaurant has the best gumbo in Shreveport-Bossier? The Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau will be honoring the winner with a 20× Foodie’s Choice Award: Best Gumbo in Shreveport-Bossier trophy. You have until Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020 at noon to submit your vote.

Christmas has never been more lit in Shreveport-Bossier. As soon as the Thanksgiving table is cleared, there are families across the Ark-La-Tex screaming, “Alexa, play Christmas music in Shreveport-Bossier!” Christmas events in north Louisiana kicks off right after the turkey is roasted, and we’ve provided a playlist that corresponds with iconic holiday events in Caddo and Bossier Parish.

Have you visited Artspace in downtown Shreveport recently? This colorful exhibit is one you may want to prioritize, as it displays and honors the artwork of HBCU Alumni from Grambling State University and Southern University at Shreveport. The exhibit is on display through Saturday, Dec. 19.
