HORIZON 2020 OPEN CALLS
Horizon 2020 was launched in December 2013, with funding for projects worth €15 billion over the first two years. This represents the first installment from the EC’s new research and innovation programme.

ELI LILLY

Lilly's new Fellowship Awards Program will foster post-doctoral career development through the selection of highly innovative research proposals. Program benefits includes but not limited to full post-doctoral salary and benefits for up to four years. Only UK and US based fellows are eligible to apply. See Lilly Drug Delivery Fellowship
EUROPEAN FOUNDATION FOR THE STUDY OF DIABETES (EFSD)

EFSD offers support in all areas of diabetes research through a wide range of joint initiatives and stand-alone initiatives. Funding is available throughout the year. 
  • 1 April 2016 - EFSD/Boehringer Ingelheim European Diabetes Programme in Microvascular Complications of Diabetes
  • 1 July 2016 - EFSD/JDRF/Lilly European Programme in Type 1 Diabetes
  • Available throughout the year -Albert Renold Travel Fellowships supported by Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD)

EXCELLENCE IN MEDICAL EDUCATION (EXCEMED)
EXCEMED supports and encourages proposals for educational activities from hospitals, universities, medical societies and associations, patient associations, health centres, pharmaceutical companies and companies providing healthcare goods and services. Proposals can include live or online educational activities. The Foundation accepts proposals that fall under its scientific fields of interest: Neurology, Reproductive Medicine, Oncology, Allergology, Endocrinology & Metabolism (including Thyroid and Diabetes), Dermatology, Immunology and Cardiovascular.

FOUNDATION OF EUROPEAN NURSES IN DIABETES (FEND)

EUROPEAN NURSES DIABETES COLLABORATIVE UNIVERSITY PROGRAMME (ENDCUP) DIABETES CLINICAL CARE AND MANAGEMENT PG Cert PG Dip or MSc
 
FEND aims to promote the role of the diabetes nurse in Europe. One of its principal goals is the ongoing development of training programmes for such nurses. The 2017  ENDCUP programme is hosted by King’s College London (KCL). KCL and its clinical partners (King’s Health Partners) have an international reputation in developing and delivering high quality diabetes care. KCL has been at the forefront of developing clinical innovations for people with diabetes. Many of these innovations have been nurse-led and include the development of structured education programmes and psychological interventions in diabetes. The programme at KCL will be taught by internationally recognised diabetes clinicians and academics.

JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION (JDRF)

JDRF offers a wide variety of grants and fellowships for qualified researchers in the field of type 1 diabetes and its associated complications.  The JDRF grant application, review and award process is centralised through their office in New York. For more information visit the Grant Center on JDRF’s international website. 


MEDICAL RESEARCH COUNCIL (MRC)

UK-Malaysia Joint Health Research Call in Non-Communicable Diseases
Closing date: 20 Apr 2016
This initiative will provide funding for UK-Malaysian collaborative research projects focussed on non-communicable diseases in Malaysia. In total, up to £4m will be made available for this initiative: up to £2m from the UK and up to £2m from Malaysia.

THE NESTLÉ FOUNDATION 

At present the Foundation's work is primarily concerned with human nutrition research issues dealing with:
  • maternal and child nutrition, including breastfeeding and complementary feeding,
  • macro- and micronutrient deficiencies and imbalances,
  • interactions between infection and nutrition, and
  • nutrition education and health promotion.
