Me on the UTV
We're engaged!💒💍💕

Many of you will have already heard our happy news by now. Thanks so much for all the good wishes! It's really exciting because we're doing it quite quickly - September doesn't leave us much time, and we'll be having two weddings, one in Turkey and one in Belfast!

I'll be 43 so I think if you leave it this long, you might as well do it twice! I always love to hear your feedback or follow up to this newsletter so if you have any wedding advice or tips - it'd be much appreciated :)

Also really appreciate all the many messages of congratulations and support we received on social media - too many (hundreds!) to respond individually but it was so lovely, even people I haven't seen in years were wishing me well, so nice thank you all :)

"About time!" many (older) people are saying - but some of us are just on a different schedule. I think it's also saying to many of you - it's never too late and there's always hope! If getting married is something you want in your life... Really there is no rush, enjoy whatever stage of life you are in right now and allow things to unfold as they will. I do love that old Irish saying: "If it's for ya, it won't go past ya."

As happy as I am right now, I know I can never depend on someone else to make me happy - we need to make ourselves happy... then it can be two happy people coming together. How great is that?

So yet again this newsletter is all about love! For me that it the heart of what mindfulness is about and weddings are a lovely public show of love and it's lovely to bring all the people we love together... I can't wait! :)

Because we've only just got engaged we had loads of plans already including going to France, we head off first thing tomorrow and amongst other things I will be bringing Muhutin to my spiritual home and happy place, Plum Village. It will be his first time, I hope he likes it as much as I do! Follow Immeasurable Minds  on social media (Instagram or Facebook, or Twitter) where I'll be posting one picture a day from our adventure there...

Ironically when I'm away in Plum Village there will be Plum Village Monastics visiting Ireland. This time last year I organised a retreat for 100 people including children in Corrymeela, Antrim and another retreat in Cootehill, Cavan and free public talks in Belfast and Sligo. I won't be doing this anymore as Mindfulness Ireland have been designated organisers for all Plum Village visits to Ireland. This is a good thing as it was an awful lot of hard work for me and I have a business to run too!

Mindfulness Ireland are a collective of Sanghas across Ireland. A Sangha is a community that practices in harmony and awareness, but practically it is a group of people who come together regularly to practice mindfulness in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh.

I started the first Sangha in Northern Ireland in 2007 - Tall Trees Sangha will be celebrating next month to mark 10 years of meeting :)

In 2012 after Thay's visit to Stormont (which was exactly five years ago on 17 April - watch his address here) the little Tall Trees Sangha was swamped with people wanting to join. I closed membership as I only have a small living room in my flat! I had a meeting and printed out lots of information, explaining how they could set up their own Sangha. The Belfast Bonsai Sangha were born, they now meet every Monday night in 6 Mount Charles, Botanic Avenue, Belfast.

They are the biggest Sangha in Northern Ireland, everyone is welcome to join them on Monday nights. Many Sanghas in Ireland are listed on the Mindfulness Ireland website but there are others who have set up following completion of my MBSR or MSC courses and are still going, they meet in each others houses or go for walks up the Cavehill. Following the Corrymeela retreat last year a family Sangha was set up and they met with their children once a month :).

All you need is a few like minded people who want to practice mindfulness together and you can form your own Sangha. There is lots of information here (under resources) about how to form your own sangha from the Community of Interbeing (COI). The COI is the Mindfulness Ireland equivalent in the UK.

The Bonsai sangha are working with Mindfulness Ireland to host two Plum Village Brothers from 23-26 April 2017, there are a number of events most of which are free. You can find the details about the monastics events on the Mindfulness Ireland website here. Check them out. I love their logo! I had it designed in Belfast back in 2012 for Thay's visit :)

*The photos below are of Muhutin and I because people want to see more, and its hard to have 6 new photos every month! :) The one of Thay and I is from 17 April 2012 - it was such a magical moment when he said to me 'photo?'. Good job someone was mindful enough that day to think about a photo!

Video of the month
I really love this TED talk from Shauna Shapiro... 'What you practice grows' I love Shauna as what she shares is based on her research and practice. I actually referred to her work in my own TED talk :)
