DEFINING FAITH

Faith can be a hard concept to define...and an even harder truth to live out. But this weekend, we had the privilege to hear from Coach John Fox's pastor, Hal Santos. And he shared with us a 3 ways to define faith...

I hope you'll be encouraged this week as you learn to live out your faith and inspire others to embrace every opportunity to express their own!

Blessings,
Iris

FAITH TIP OF THE WEEK:
Whenever you are "too busy" to read, try praying this short message to keep you connected:

Guide me Lord, You are my heart. You are my strength. You are my hope. Teach me Lord, and guide my way. I surrender my will and every moment to you, knowing that you watch over all I do. I love you more each passing day.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.

WORD OF THE WEEK: "OPPORTUNITY"

I want to encourage you to visit the website and read my post Embrace Every Opportunity to see how even when things don't go as planned, God is still good.

Good enough to prepare our hearts for the disappointment of losing the Big Game. That afternoon, God reminded us what it means to have faith--and how faith in Him will carry us through all of life's ups and downs.

So, what is faith? And how does faith help us embrace every opportunity?

Faith is believing God is in control even when you cannot see good in your circumstances or are uncertain about the outcomes of your circumstances. I don't know why we lost the game the way we did, but I know that God used the opportunity for us to be a part of the Super Bowl to bring glory to His Name.

Faith is obeying even when you don't understand. There are many times in life that God asks us to do things that don't make sense...but faith gives you the courage and the peace to obey because you know you can trust the One who is leading you. It can be something as simple as helping out a friend or giving an encouraging word. Or it can be something more drastic, such as changing jobs or re-locating. Whatever it is, God honors obedience because it is a demonstration of our love for Him.

Faith is being thankful to God even when you don't get what you want when you want it. You have to trust God's timing and trust that His plan is better than your plan. It's not easy, but when you can learn to be thankful in every circumstance, God's peace overtakes you and keeps you until His perfect timing arrives.

When you have faith, you can embrace every opportunity--no matter if adversity or prosperity--to honor God because you trust in Him. You trust His sovereignty, His goodness and His love for you.

ACTION OF THE WEEK:

Your call to action this week is to embrace at least one opportunity to share your faith with someone this week.

PRAYER REQUESTS/UPDATES:

It's been a long week! But we made it home:) Going to New York was an amazing experience--the Super Bowl was incredible. And although it didn't turn out like we hoped, we know God used this opportunity to share His love the world through us. And that in and of itself was worth every minute! We are thankful for this blessing and that Manny was not injured during the game.

Now we enter our off-season. Please pray for us to close on our house and move out in a timely fashion. Everything seems to be in order. We sign on Friday, and I've already began packing;)

Please also keep Foundations 6:19 in prayers regarding our building plans and a couple of new programs we are starting. Pray that we will effectively and efficiently meet the needs of others to help them honor God with their whole lives and will be an example of how to live it out.

Thank you for all your love & support throughout this season of our lives! We have enjoyed sharing the ride with you:)

As always, I'd love to unite with you in prayer. Just email me or facebook your prayer requests!

Blessings,
Iris
