This week Democrats filed suit to challenge Virginia’s voter photo ID law.
As reported in the New York Times, this suit is part of a coordinated national campaign funded by George Soros and organized by Hillary Clinton’s lawyer, Marc Elias. Democrats have lost the argument in the state legislatures and with the voters (polls show Virginians support the measure 75% - 23%). Democrats now seek to overturn the photo ID requirement in court, just in time for Hilary’s Clinton’s campaign in 2016.
I have supported a photo ID requirement for years, and in 2013, I defended Mark Obenshain's bill in the House -- you can watch the video here. It ultimately passed 65-34.
Now that the law has been challenged, it is the Attorney General’s job to defend it. Given his past actions, we are understandably skeptical that he will do so. Please contact him here and demand that he do his job and defend Virginia law.
