Time to declutter and go on that cleanse! Eclipses, Equinox and Mercury retro ...
Hi <<First Name>>
The energies are ramping up … we’ve got eclipses, the Equinox, and Mercury retro this lunar month. Not to mention Pluto stationary for most of September, adding a real depth charge to issues of power and disempowerment. Take care, and don’t take any unnecessary risks during this eclipse season.
The New Moon in Virgo on Sun 13 Sept is a partial solar eclipse, an intensified form of a New Moon. This is likely to bring significant changes to the way we approach our everyday life, with the eclipse indicating that we’ll begin an important new cycle in this part of our life now. This is an excellent time to begin a new health regime, or to bring a new sense of order into your life. If you’re thinking of going on a cleanse, or de-cluttering your house, this eclipsed New Moon provides perfect timing, and may even demand it of you. Virgo loves order and has a tendency towards perfectionism. The challenge for Virgo is not getting lost in the detail (which it is so good at) and as a result, losing sight of the overall vision, the classic “not being able to see the wood (forest) for the trees”.
If your birthday is close to this eclipsed New Moon, this marks the beginning of a highly significant new cycle in your life in terms of your identity and your sense of purpose.
Remember to put out your New Moon intentions within 24 hours of the New Moon. The eclipse gives added power to the intentions you create now. The eclipsed New Moon is exact at 4.41pm AEST.
Be mindful of my usual warning around eclipses. Eclipses demand respect, so take care and don’t take any unnecessary risks in this period or in the couple of weeks either side of the eclipses.
A challenging combination between Jupiter and Neptune mid-Sept (exact on Thurs 17 Sept) is a classic time for deception and self-deception, illusion and self-delusion. Be wary of falling for any scams around this time, especially with Mercury at a standstill adding to the confusion. Government and media are more likely than ever to be pulling the wool over people’s eyes, so keep your discernment in all areas of your life.
Mercury goes retrograde on Fri 18 Sept for 3 weeks, bringing the potential for confusion, mistakes and delays. Double-check appointments and flight times, that you have your keys with you, and that messages get through OK. This is not a good time to make any major purchases or sign contracts, unless you’re prepared to revise your plans - or take purchases back to the shop - down the track. Remember too the deceptive influence of Jupiter-Neptune can also cloud your judgment now. The upside of Mercury retro is that it is a great time to catch up on all your paperwork and reorganize so you can be more streamlined, echoing the Virgo New Moon theme of bringing more order into your life! Mercury goes direct again on Sat 10 Oct (AEST).
Saturn moves back into Sagittarius, after his retrograde revisiting of Scorpio, on Fri 18 Sept. Saturn tends to bring restraint and restrictions, so don’t be surprised in the next two and a half years while Saturn moves through Sagittarius to find increased restrictions in areas associated with this sign, such as international travel, the internet and even education. Sagittarius can also be associated with religion, so there may be more control or even repression exerted over religions or religious practices in this time frame. The positive side of Saturn is the potential to become an authority wherever it is placed – the negative side is that is can become authoritarian.
The Equinox falls on Wed 23 Sept, exact at 6.21pm Queensland time. The theme of the Equinox is always about balance – it’s the time of year when day and night are of equal length (‘equi-nox’ means ‘equal night’) and the seasons come to a point of balance. This Equinox is marked by the Sun moving into the zodiac sign of Libra, the sign associated with harmony, balance and fairness. In the Southern hemisphere this is the Spring Equinox, a time of rejoicing that winter is over and celebrating the birth of new life. The seasons are reversed in the Northern hemisphere where this is the Autumn Equinox, a time of harvest celebration, giving thanks for the abundant crops produced by the summer months. Whether you are celebrating the Spring or Autumn Equinox, this is a perfect time to reflect on your own life, to explore what might be out of balance there and find a way to restore that, whether it’s in your relationships, your family life, your work or any other aspect of your life.
Meanwhile Pluto is stationary for the whole of Sept, turning direct on Fri 25 Sept, two days after the Equinox and thus adding a powerful depth charge to this delicate point of balance. This is a time when deeply-buried issues may finally rise to the surface, particularly if you’ve become more aware of them bubbling away in the last six months. Plutonian issues usually concern disempowerment, powerlessness and on the other side of the coin, misuses or even abuses of power. This time now is well-suited to deep inner work, shifting these issues so that you can at last move forward. The key to moving through this is to become as aware as possible of your feelings and reactions, becoming conscious of how, on the one hand, we may give away our power, and on the other, how we may manipulate others to get our own way. It can be really subtle, so to paraphrase Socrates, know thyself – and stay in the light!
If you have chart points at 13 degrees of Capricorn (or any of the other cardinal signs: Aries, Cancer, Libra) you will be picking up on this intense transformational energy at a very personal level – in fact it’s been going on for the last year or two. The good news is that it is finally easing for you as Pluto moves forwards and leaves this degree behind. Hopefully you have faced the demons and can now step fully into your power.
The Full Moon in Aries on Mon 28 Sept is a total lunar eclipse. This is the fourth in the tetrad, a series of four total lunar eclipses. Total lunar eclipses often correlate with increased activity in earth changes such as earthquakes, volcanos and extreme weather events, and we’ve had four in a row. The eclipsed Full Moon in Aries gives us a strong invitation to find a balance between independence and co-operation with others. The eclipsed Full Moon is exact at 12.50pm so it won’t be visible in Australia as an eclipse. If you celebrate Full Moon, the best time to celebrate will be the previous night when the energies are still building.
Party time is over for the lovers Venus and Mars. They both move out of fun-loving Leo and into the practical and meticulous sign of Virgo this lunar month. Time now to count the cost of all that lavish entertainment! And go on that new health regime J
