The New Moon in Cancer on Mon 4 July represents the opportunity for a new cycle to begin in relation to the feminine. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, symbolising women, mothering and the sacred feminine. This New Moon represents the beginning of a new cycle in the way we care for others, the way we nurture ourselves, and our relationship with women in general.
Cancer is a water sign, sensitive and emotional, with a strong need for emotional security. This is the sign associated with home and family, so this New Moon can also mark the beginning of a new sense of belonging, perhaps a new phase in our home and family life, or our sense of belonging to a ‘tribe’.
Cancer has a tenacious connection to the past – Cancerians don’t like to let go of anything! The New Moon in Cancer represents the beginning of a new phase in our relationship with the past, an opportunity to emotionally release whatever no longer serves us. The Australian Bush Flower Essence Bottlebrush is particularly good for supporting you to let go.
If your birthday falls close to the date of this New Moon, this marks an important year of new beginnings in your life, particularly with regard to your identity, your sense of self and your purpose in life.
This New Moon holds great potential to vision and dream, and if you’re prepared to put in the effort, to bring these dreams into reality. Part of this effort will require you stepping up into your own power, and claiming your space.
Remember to put out your intentions for this lunar month within 24 hours of the New Moon. The New Moon is exact at 9.01pm AEST.
Venus is in nurturing Cancer at the start of this lunar month, relating to those she loves by looking after them, cooking them delicious meals and generally being tender and protective. Watch out for any subtle manipulation though as Cancer (and any Water sign) is very good at getting its own way, usually without anyone else realizing what’s going on J When Venus moves into fun-loving Leo on Tues 12 July, relationships become more playful, light-hearted and passionate. Meals are now more likely to be enjoyed in elegant restaurants – Leo does like to be treated as special! Anything less just isn’t going to cut it. A tip for the guys: treat your goddess like a queen under this royal Leonine influence.
The lovers Venus and Mars are in an easy-going relationship at the beginning of this lunar month, very much tuned in with each other with Venus in Cancer and Mars in Scorpio, both emotional Water signs. Once Venus goes into spirited Leo on Tues 12 July though, tensions and clashes are more likely as the lovers are both in fixed signs, likely to dig in their heels and not budge in any disagreement. This will continue till just before the next New Moon on 3 July (AEST), when Mars finally moves out of Scorpio into Sagittarius and aligns once more with Venus in a Fire sign. Now the lovers can really start to enjoy themselves and have fun!
The Full Moon falls in Capricorn on Wed 20 July, bringing the difference between your public and private life into sharp focus. The Full Moon invites us to find a balance between these two opposing polarities of work and home. If there is something you have been working towards for a while, this Full Moon is likely to bring things to fruition with a sense of achievement. However there may be some unexpected elements in the mix with Uranus part of this configuration, bringing surprises or turning things on their head, at the very least shaking up that Capricorn feeling of permanence and respectability. The Full Moon is exact at 8.57am AEST – so the best night for ceremony is the previous evening.
Uranus turns retrograde on Sun 30 July at 24 degrees Aries, giving you the opportunity to review your life from a perspective of increased awareness, especially with regard to any innovations you may have introduced in the last 7 months. If your birthday is close to 14 April, you’ll be feeling the energy of Uranus very strongly, either as a destabilizing influence or intense excitement – or indeed both. Uranus is inviting you to be more authentic, to feel free enough to be completely true to yourself. Now’s the time to re-invent yourself! At its highest vibration, Uranus is inviting you to bring more conscious awareness into your life. Uranus is retrograde for 5 months until Thurs 29 Dec 2016.
Looking ahead to next lunar month …
The next New Moon falls in Leo on Wed 3 Aug 2016, exact at 6.45am Queensland time (AEST) at 10 degrees Leo (the previous day in Europe and the Americas).
