Time for renewed vitality!
& an “almost-eclipsed” Full Moon
Hi <<First Name>>
There’s a highly energised start to this lunar month with the New Moon in Leo and Mars just back in Sagittarius. This is likely to bring a sense of optimism and a renewed trust in the world, without losing sight of what is practical and pragmatic.
If you love looking at the stars, skywatching is spectacular this lunar month. Venus returns as the Evening Star and even Mercury can just be seen after sunset if you have a clear view of the horizon. Watch the skies around 24 Aug as Mars and Saturn will be very close together, and Venus and Jupiter will be right next to each other around 27-28 Aug, both shining very brightly.
The New Moon in Leo on Wed 3 Aug brings a renewed sense of fun and enthusiasm for life. This is a perfect time to re-energize and revitalize. Leo is ruled by the Sun and this sign has all the life-giving qualities of the Sun, inspiring others with its warmth, energy and passion. Warm-hearted and generous, Leo is the royalty of the zodiac, confident and regal with a flair for the dramatic, so don’t be surprised to find a Leo centre-stage. Fire signs need to have plenty of fun, and Leos love to do this in grand lavish style.
This New Moon represents the opportunity to begin a new cycle in your enthusiasm for life and your creativity - whatever inspires you and ignites your passion. Mars gives an added boost to the enthusiasm and passion of this New Moon, as he’s only just moved back into adventurous Sagittarius after his retro time in Scorpio. Time to light those rockets! Meanwhile a harmonious contact from Saturn provides stability and a cautious note, ensuring that the enthusiasm of the Fire signs doesn’t get too carried away. Wherever this New Moon falls in your chart, this part of your life will receive a welcome boost of new energy and vitality.
If your birthday is close to the date of this New Moon, your year ahead is likely to see significant new beginnings in your life, particularly with regard to your identity, your sense of self and your purpose in life. The New Moon is exact at 6.45am AEST
For a short time at the start of this lunar month, the lovers Venus and Mars are naturally in tune, enjoying the passion and fun-loving party-time energy of Fire signs. However this easy flow of energy between them doesn’t last long, and when Venus moves out of Leo into perfectionist Virgo on Sat 6 Aug (AEST), tensions between them will start to arise. Virgo is critical at the best of times, towards self as well as others, and Venus may well have a crisis of confidence, affected by perceived criticism from others. The way through is for Venus to connect with her own inner authority and let that be her guide. She'll be a lot happier when she moves into her own sign of Libra at the end of the month on Tues 30 Aug. Venus is once again visible in the early evening in the west as the Evening Star, traditionally her peaceful aspect.
Saturn grinds to a halt on Sat 13 Aug following its recent retrograde period, ready to go direct again at 9 degrees Sag. If your birthday is close to 1 December or this degree is significant in your chart, you”ll probably have been feeling the heavy energy of Saturn sitting on this point for the previous 3 weeks, with a further three weeks to look forward to (!). The energy of Saturn asks us to re-evaluate the area of life it is currently contacting, to take full responsibility for ourselves and our actions, and to cut away any dead wood – which ultimately stimulates new growth (think pruning the roses). It is also very good at demanding that we do a reality check. The forward motion of Saturn enables us to test and put into practice over the next seven months whatever we have learned about social responsibility, self-discipline and material reality during its retrograde phase.
The "eclipsed" Full Moon falls in Aquarius on Thurs 18 Aug. This is technically a lunar eclipse, although the shadow is so slight, hardly even brushing the Moon that the “eclipse” is imperceptible to us, visually at least. It’s still likely to amp up the energies though, making this Full Moon more intense than it might otherwise be. In Aquarius, this almost-eclipsed Full Moon highlights the need to balance the needs of the individual with those of the collective. It’s also likely to bring new and experimental ideas into sharp focus. The Full Moon is exact at 7.27pm AEST.
Looking ahead to next lunar month
Take great care as the eclipse season approaches again (some might say we’re already in it!). The New Moon in Virgo on Thurs 1 Sept is a Solar Eclipse, and the Full Moon in Pisces on Sat 17 Sept (AEST) is a Lunar Eclipse. Don’t take any unnecessary risks in the two weeks either side of the eclipses.
And a heads up that Mercury goes retro again at the end of August - get on top of all your communications and back up your computers!
