A New Cycle of Healing with this Eclipse
& Equinox - Time to Restore Balance to Your Life
Hi <<First Name>>
Right in the path of totality of the upcoming Solar Eclipse, Indonesia suffered a powerful 7.9 earthquake on Tuesday. As we move into the eclipse season, remember to respect their energy and their reputation for bringing sudden change: stay conscious and don’t take any unnecessary risks!
The New Moon on Wed 9 March is a Total Solar Eclipse, intensifying the effects of the New Moon and bringing significant change into people’s lives – often sudden and unexpected changes.
Falling in Pisces, the eclipsed New Moon signifies a renewed focus on spirituality and our sense of the divine. Pisces is a water sign, emotionally attuned, sensitive and strongly connected at a feeling level. Imaginative and creative, it has a sense of divine homesickness, a longing to return to source and to merge into oneness. This eclipsed New Moon offers a strong opportunity to begin a new cycle in our spirituality. With Chiron close to the New Moon, there’s the opportunity now for a significant new healing cycle to begin.
This eclipsed New Moon in Pisces can also usher in a strong new cycle characterized by compassion and the desire to help others. However the presence of the South Node here suggests we should be especially wary of any tendency to rescue others - more so than is usual with Pisces. Pisces has a tendency towards self-sacrifice in the service of others, even to the point of martyrdom, so make sure you look after yourself first, otherwise you’ll be in no position to take care of others.
There is a fine line between helping others and rescuing them, overstepping boundaries which essentially need to be respected and strengthened. So watch for expansive energy with a lack of boundaries, being overly sensitive to others’ needs rather than your own. We need to empower others, not rescue them. One of the best ways to empower people is to respect them and give them the space to make their own decisions. By trusting them to make those decisions (Jupiter with the North Node in Virgo), we provide the invitation for them to step into that place of empowerment.
Remember that Eclipses demand respect. They signal times of sudden, often unexpected change, so be extra careful during the eclipse period - for two weeks either side of each eclipse, making it a six-week period - and don’t take any unnecessary risks.
Wherever you have 18 degrees of Pisces in your chart is the area of your life that will be strongly affected by this Solar Eclipse – for example, if this Eclipse falls in your 10th house, it signifies the beginning of a significant new cycle in your career or professional life, and possibly sudden changes in that area too.
If your birthday falls close to this date (within a day either side), this is the beginning of a highly significant new cycle in your life, particularly with regard to your sense of identity and purpose.
This is a very potent time for manifesting because of the added impact of the total solar eclipse. Put out your New Moon intentions as close as possible to the eclipsed New Moon, or at the least in the 24 hours following. The eclipsed New Moon is exact at 11.54am AEST.
The Equinox falls on Sun 20 March at 2.30pm AEST, as the Sun moves out of dreamy Pisces and into action-oriented Aries. The Equinox marks the change of the seasons, the time of year when day and night are of equal length and the seasons come to a point of balance. This is a perfect time to explore what might be out of balance in your own life and find a way to restore that balance, whether it’s in your relationships, your family life, your work or any other aspect of your life.
The Lunar Eclipse Full Moon on Wed 23 March issues a challenge to relationships, with sudden unexpected changes in the mix. This Libran Full Moon highlights our need to relate to others, yet also emphasizes the need to find a balance between the needs of the self and the needs of the other, between the need for independence and the need for compromise.
The Lunar Eclipse will be visible in Australia, although it’s a penumbral eclipse, just a shadowing of the Full Moon in the evening sky. There’s a difference between the timing of the Full Moon and the Lunar Eclipse - the Lunar Eclipse will technically be exact at 9.47pm AEST, while the Full Moon is exact at 10.01pm. The Eclipsed Full Moon is at 3 degrees Libra - plot this on your birth chart to see which part of your life is under the spotlight.
Saturn grinds to a halt and turns retrograde on Fri 25 March 2016 at 16 degrees of Sagittarius. Saturn retrograde encourages us to review the recent past and assess our ability to take full responsibility for our actions. It also urges us to re-examine the way we have structured our lives. This is a good time to look at the ways we limit ourselves, and then bring our fears to the conscious light of day. This is also a good time to review our ability to say ’No’ and ensure that we can maintain healthy boundaries in all areas of our lives. The Saturn retrograde period lasts until Sat 13 Aug 2016.
If your birthday falls around 8 or 9 December, Saturn will be stationary right on your Sun. This is likely to be a time of increased responsibility for you, especially for the month either side of 25 March, as you enter a new phase of maturity and step into a place of personal authority. Your workload may increase at this time. Saturn is a planet where we truly reap what we sow: if you’ve accepted the extra responsibility and put in the hard yards, this can be a time of success and achievement. However, if you’ve cut corners along the way, this is a time when you can come unstuck, leading to feelings of failure and depression. The knowledge of Astrology gives you conscious choice.
Just a reminder that we are in the Mars retrograde 'shadow', the lead-up to the Mars retrograde period from mid-April to the end of June that I wrote about last month. Increasingly we’re likely to be feeling frustration as Mars slows down, approaching the point at which it turns and goes retrograde on Sun 17 April. As plans typically get stalled and delayed under Mars retro, patience is the virtue that will get tested for the next 5 months, till we are out of the retro shadow on the other side on 22 Aug. The most positive use of this energy is to stay calm and welcome the slower pace, using it to revise and improve on your original plans.
Looking ahead to next lunar month …
