New Years’ Resolutions
on the Capricorn New Moon
… & Mercury’s still retro
Hi <<First Name>>
If you haven’t yet made your New Year’s Resolutions, don’t worry - you’re perfectly in tune with the Universe!
The New Moon in Capricorn on Sun 10 Jan is the absolute best time to make your New Year’s resolutions as the energy of this New Moon gives a powerful boost to any intentions/resolutions you set now.
A New Moon always represents the beginning of a new cycle in some part of your life. The Capricorn New Moon invites renewed focus on self-discipline, responsibility, dealing with material reality, setting goals, improving time management and introducing more structure into your life – all in the service of moving forwards on your chosen path. Remember the image of Capricorn the goat, moving slowly but steadily up the mountain, one step at a time, guaranteed to reach the summit.
Wherever you have Capricorn in your chart is the area of life that will be most strongly affected by this New Moon – for example, if it is on your 6th house cusp, this is an opportunity to bring more self-discipline into your daily routine and health regime; if it falls in the 2nd, this applies to your finances. If you are not sure where Capricorn falls in your birth chart, think of the area of your life that could most benefit from some self-discipline right now – you will probably tune into it intuitively!
Remember to put out your New Moon intentions within 24 hours of the New Moon. The New Moon is exact at 11.32am AEST.
If your birthday falls close to this date, or if 19 degrees Capricorn is strong in your chart, this is the beginning of a significant new cycle in your life in terms of your sense of identity and purpose in the world. If any of your planets fall at this degree, this indicates the part of your life affected – eg if you have Venus close to this degree, then this signifies the beginning of a new cycle in your relationships.
Tensions are likely to arise in relationships at the start of this lunar month as the lovers Venus and Mars are in adjacent signs, sharing nothing in common – Venus in adventurous, fun-loving Sagittarius and Mars in the reclusive emotional depths of Scorpio. Tensions should ease when Venus moves into the more serious, committed sign of Capricorn on Sun 24 Jan AEST, just before the Full Moon. The lovers are now both introverted, with a compatible elemental balance of Earth and Water. There could still be some clashes though over control issues, as both Capricorn and Scorpio have that tendency :-)
The Full Moon in Leo on Sun 24 Jan brings a sense of fun and enthusiasm for life – a great party time! This Full Moon highlights the need to balance self-interest with concern for the community. The Full Moon is exact at 11.47am Qld time, so the best time for Full Moon celebrations will be the previous evening Sat 23 Jan.
Mercury continues to be retro for most of this lunar month, bringing confusion, mistakes and delays in all matters involving communication, commerce and computers! Best not to be tempted by the January sales, as purchases made under the influence of Mercury retro very often have to be taken back to the shops. We can all heave a collective sigh of relief when Mercury goes direct again on Tues 26 Jan, although be warned it takes a few days to pick up speed and for things to return their usual functioning.
Looking ahead to next lunar month …
The next New Moon brings in the Chinese New Year – Tues 9 Feb 2016 at 00.38am AEST (Mon 8 Feb in Europe and the Americas), at 19 degrees Aquarius. Like many traditional cultures, the Chinese New Year is based on the lunar calendar, and this New Moon marks the beginning of the Chinese Year of the Red Fire Monkey.
