New Moon in Taurus
Time to revisit any lingering resentments this Full Moon
Hi <<First Name>>
With Mercury & Mars both currently retro, the virtue of Patience is still very much in demand, perhaps more so than ever! Use the energies of this period to your advantage – revisit your projects, fine-tune the details or think laterally and see whether improvements can be made. Meanwhile, sort out your files, get on top of all your ‘paperwork’, and streamline your office! This is a great time for decluttering – you’ll be amazed at what turns up that you thought you’d lost forever.
The New Moon falls in Taurus on Sat 7 May, signalling an opportunity to begin a new cycle in our relationship with the physical world. It invites us to connect deeply with the land, to appreciate the abundance of Nature, to acknowledge the sacred beauty of the Earth and to embody this by stepping into our protective role as her guardians. Increasingly, governments are waking up to the dangers of pesticides, herbicides and GMOs as more scientific evidence of their harmful impact comes to light. This New Moon in Taurus is an energetic invitation for us to step up and protect Mother Earth.
Taurus is an Earth sign, patient and grounded, with an appreciation of the finer things in life. Taurus is sensuous and has a love of luxury, so make time now for some pampering and indulgence.
Taurus is also associated with security in its many forms – emotional, material and financial – and this need for security (or more accurately, the fear of lack of security) can give rise to the sign’s tendency towards possessiveness and material accumulation. Use the energies of this lunar month to explore your own security needs and your own relationship with abundance.
If your birthday falls close to this New Moon, within a day either side, you are likely to be strongly affected as it marks a year of new beginnings in your life, particularly with regard to your identity and your sense of purpose.
The New Moon falls at 16 degrees Taurus. If you have points in your birth chart close to this degree (within one degree) expect the part of your life associated with that energy (eg relationships for Venus) to begin a significant new cycle.
The New Moon is exact at 5.29am AEST. Remember to put out your New Moon resolutions in the following 24 hrs.
Jupiter goes direct on Mon 9 May at 13 degrees Virgo, indicating that renewed hope and optimism can now emerge. Ongoing reviews of injustice and other legal matters are likely to be brought to resolution now, especially those concerning food production, purity or contamination of food or water supply. At a personal level, if you have been questioning your beliefs or dealing with issues of trust or faith over the last four months, Jupiter’s direct motion is now likely to bring resolution and more clarity.
The Full Moon falls in Sagittarius on Sun 22 May, shedding light on our need to find a deeper meaning in life, not getting lost in mind-numbing trivia. This Full Moon urges us to find a balance between our need to enthusiastically explore and our need to approach an issue rationally, collecting information first rather than acting impetuously. There may be challenges around issues of trust, and with Mars retro in exact line-up with this Full Moon, anger or resentment is likely to be part of the mix, perhaps an issue that’s come up previously being re-addressed. Use the Mars energy wisely to assert your needs and find a way forward – Sagittarius is flexible after all. The Full Moon is exact at 7.14am AEST, so if you’re planning a Full Moon celebration, the best time for ceremony is the previous evening, the Saturday night. Also it’s a great time to put out your crystals under the energy of the Full Moon.
After 3 weeks of misunderstandings, computer issues and communication hassles, we can all have a sigh of relief as Mercury goes direct again on the day of the Full Moon Sun 22 May.
There’s a celestial struggle going on, reaching a climax around Thurs 26 May, between over-extending ourselves, coming from the desire to expand and grow (Jupiter), and the completely opposite fear-based impulse to limit and restrain, if not stop altogether (Saturn) – the kind of struggle we so often witness in politics! A concerted effort is required to integrate these two opposing energies into a mix where progress is still possible, but not at the galloping unbounded rate originally envisaged (Jupiter); where there is sufficient pragmatism, cautious but not to the extent of actually applying the brakes to any progress (Saturn). Positively, this could result in a kind of cautious optimism, which honours both principles. Conscious integration, that’s what’s required.
Mars will move back into Scorpio on Fri 27 May on his retrograde journey, so if you have planets at the end of Scorpio, they are about to be revisited by Mars. This could result in an energy boost, but it’s more likely to be a going-back-over-something than moving ahead. We still have another month of Mars retro so please be patient with any delays to your cherished projects. As I said in my intro, the best way to work WITH this energy is to revisit your original plans and see what improvements you can make - think laterally if necessary. Remember with Mars retro there’s no point trying to force things to happen. Trust that there is a reason and purpose for any delays, and turn them to your advantage.
Looking ahead to next lunar month …
