On Thursday, April 7, 2016 the Jewish Federation of Durham Chapel Hill, Board of Directors, passed the following resolution, that we wish to share with you.
The Jewish Federation of Durham-Chapel Hill’s commitment to diversity and inclusion remains unwavering regardless of the recent legislation passed by the North Carolina General Assembly. Our members, clients, guests, and staff may continue to use the restroom and locker room that corresponds with their gender identity, rather than their gender at birth.
House Bill 2 is bad public policy for our State. We decry the usurpation of local authority by the North Carolina General Assembly, and support the full and immediate repeal of HB2 in its entirety at the earliest possible date. Further we object to the elimination of a statewide cause of action for discrimination.
The Jewish Federation of Durham-Chapel Hill stands with the LGBTQ community, and we strongly support equal protection for all people, regardless of race, sex, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.
