e@UBC is hosting an Open House for the Lean Launchpad Accelerator Program on Wednesday, January 8th. This program helps entrepreneurial teams to validate their start-up opportunity and build a foundation for an investable business. It’s open to all students, alumni, faculty and staff at UBC. Paul Cubbon, Lean LaunchPad instructor/facilitator and faculty member at the Sauder School of Business, will lead the presentation and be available to answer any questions. See below for a more detailed outline of the program.
The Lean LaunchPad Accelerator Program
The program provides you real world, hands-on learning about validating a business opportunity and starting up a company. Through four biweekly sessions and a significant investment of time in between, you and your team members will use the concept of the business model canvas to identify and test your business model hypothesis, and engage in the customer discovery and validation process. Every two weeks you’ll come together with the other teams in your cohort and the mentor panel in a “flipped classroom” setting: you and your colleagues will present the evolution of your business model, and our seasoned mentor panel will challenge your assumptions and findings throughout the process. Start-up concepts will be presented and discussed to accentuate your learning. In between the seminars, you and your team will be getting “out of the building” and interviewing potential customers, competitors and partners, so that YOU become the expert in your market or industry ecosystem. At the end of the program, you’ll be equipped with the tools and fundamentals to pursue a start-up opportunity.
