As we approach the end of the year I wanted to reflect on 2014 and share some things I have hopefully learned. What is that famous quote?, "Those who don't learn from history are destined to repeat it."
Hopefully, on the flip-side we can also learn from some of the right things we have learned/experienced and seek to repeat those. So let's start with that.
Probably, the most significant lesson I learned this year was to seek God and wait on Him to respond, rather than trying to make everything happen myself. One of the new verses I learned to meditate on in 2014 was Jeremiah 33:3 which says: "Call to Me and I will answer you and I will tell you great and mighty things that you do not know."
As a type "A" personality, I am not a particularly patient person, but 2014 showed me the great benefit of seeking God as it says in this verse above and then stepping back and watching Him provide.
God revealed His will that The Marks Law Firm grow this year and that he would provide the attorneys and key team members He wanted to join the firm. He blessed us with a new office building in 2012 that was twice the size of our prior space and said it was time to fill the building and that it was not up to me to do it, but rather up to Him. So I stepped back and He provided two of the best attorneys I could have ever imagined to join the firm.
Attorney, Joy Ragan heard from God and decided to leave her successful law firm to join us in March 2014. She has not only done an incredible job as an attorney but has added so much more to the cohesiveness of the entire team. Then in July 2014, attorney, Marlee D'Arco heard from God and made the decision to leave her successful private consulting practice and join our team. She has brought a skill set from outside the legal arena that has helped catapult our firm forward in new ways. God has also brought on four new team members, Dawn, Terri, April and Cara with significant abilities and talents as amazing additions to our team. You can view our new team member bios on our Firm Website (link provided below).
With our existing high-performance team, I believe we can accomplish anything as long as we continue to seek His will and honor Him. So our growth in numbers and quality this year has been attributable to an important lesson I have learned and that is to seek God, be patient and see what great things He is going to do.
I hope you all have a great end of year. Take some time to take stock in what you've learned this year and how you can apply it in greater and more powerful ways in 2015. Thank you for your continued support and for your friendship.
Have a great Christmas and New Year!
Attorney Tom Marks
