Meet the 2021-22 Friends of the Library Board
In June's newsletter, we introduced new president Rebecca McCurdy. This month, we catch up with Katherine Gifford, who is returning to the board after serving three terms previously. When asked what inspired her to return, Katherine shared, "I am happy to return to the Friends board because of the importance of the library to the Redlands community. The pandemic highlighted how we rely on the library for reading materials, adult literacy services, and online lectures and resources. The Friends are a vital organization that supports the library's mission of providing educational services to the community." Katherine's areas of focus will be supporting adult literacy and the board's fundraising efforts. With her dedication to ensuring adults in our community have access to free literacy tutoring, it's probably not surprising that Katherine is an avid reader. She highly recommends The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History by Elizabeth Kolbert, calling it the best book she has read this year. It is available at the library!
