Leslie Brody
With deepest gratitude, we thank departing board members Jerry Burgess, Kim Green, Les Kong, Sharon Regalado, Ellen Schollenberger, and Louise Schumann for their years of service supporting the library. They will all be greatly missed, but the benefits of their contributions will continue to make a difference for years to come. Their contributions are too many to list, but we would like to mention just a few:

Jerry served as past president of the board, tirelessly processed donations, and worked in the bookstore and on the auction team. As chair of the hospitality committee, Sharon planned memorable and enjoyable appreciation luncheons for the library staff and bookstore volunteers in addition to other events. Kim  helped to create a new Adult Literacy website and was instrumental in introducing online payments and credit card use at sales. She will continue to support the Friends as an adjunct member.
Louise led the auction team to new levels of fundraising success and also coordinated the redesign and improvement of the donation processing area in the lower level of the library. Ellen will always be remembered for her dedication to managing the bookstore and cheerfully leading the Monday group of volunteers who sort donations and re-stock the bookstore shelves.

The challenges of the last year fell primarily to our president, Les Kong.  He gave countless hours to the Friends, most of which was without accolade or recognition. During the past year, Les has led the Friends' efforts to find creative ways to support the library during the pandemic and the closures and restrictions that resulted. One of those ways was the Friends' new online Amazon store. We are humbled by his devotion to the Friends, the Library and the community and will greatly miss his leadership.

In next month's newsletter, we will introduce our incoming members and new president!
