Message from Les Kong,
President of the Friends of A.K. Smiley Public Library:

After extensive discussions with Library Director Don McCue, the following decisions have been made in light of the coronavirus situation:

1. The Semi-Annual Book Sale scheduled for March 27-29 is postponed until further notice.

2. The Bookstore will remain open at regular hours for now. The Monday sorting/shelving activity in the Bookstore is requested to be limited to no more than 10 individuals at a time. Volunteers will be contacted by Ellen Schoenberg or Sue Remes to set up the schedule.

3. The Auction activity on Tuesdays will continue but will be monitored for social distancing.

4.  Adult Literacy tutoring will continue, but individuals involved should also be cognizant of social distancing.

5.  A decision regarding the April Bag Sale will be made towards the end of this month.

6.  Any volunteers 60 years of age and older with pre-existing health conditions should evaluate and assess their own risks in determining their activity or involvement in gatherings or groups of 10 or more.

7.  The Smiley Brothers’ Birthday celebration is also cancelled this year, as we cannot serve food/drink during this crisis.

Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. We are all concerned about the health and safety of all our volunteers, the library staff, and the public.
