Welcome to the Special Edition of the EOSE E-Bulletin devoted to the concept of
European Sector Skills Council.
 

A wide consultation is currently being led by a Consortium composed of the European Observatoire of Sport and Employment (EOSE), the European Association of Sport Employers (EASE), UNI-EUROPA and SkillsActive - which has been appointed by Directorate-General Employment and Social Affairs of the European Commission to carry out a feasibility study for setting up a European sector skills council for the sport and active leisure sector.

Through the special edition of the EOSE e-bulletin, the Consortium would like to give you the opportunity to take part in the study by filling an online questionnaire and make sure your views will be considered when developing the set of recommendations for the European Commission. 

The survey shall provide key evidence to assess if there is sufficient demand and need to set up a Sector Skills Council, and to identify if there is the capacity to ensure the successful establishment of such a mechanism for the sector.
This is your opportunity to ensure that sport can benefit from such opportunities already established in other sectors!

What is a European Sector Skills Council?


The concept has been promoted by the European Commission with a view to:
  • provide more and better information about the skills situation in different sectors;
  • help develop skills governance in each sector and national skills policies. 

What is required from a national Observatory?


> Collect Labour Market Information (LMI) about the sector in your country;
> Contributing to and distributing a sector wide European qualitative survey of skills issues in your country;
> Consulting with a group of stakeholders on the findings of the LMI.
 
Note: The role can be played by any interested organisations having the expertise, motivation and capacity to deliver such tasks.
