Meeting with eSeaClear
eSeaClear called a meeting of all yachting agents recently which was attended by Alison Sly-Adams as representative of the ABMA. The meeting was to gain feedback from agents on eSeaClear and for eSeaClear representative Luke Pressley to update attendees on upcoming changes to the system. A number of upgrades were discussed which will enhance eSeaClear and hence speed up clearance in and out for all yachtsmen.
Luke and Alison will be attending a meeting with Customs, Immigration and Port Authority within the next few weeks to discuss potential changes to procedures for the upcoming season. Following this meeting the membership will be updated on significant developments.
The eSeaClear team has agreed to share regular reports with the ABMA. Please find the first such report here – with details of number of boats, passengers and crew cleared in and out from November 2013 to June 2014.
A cautionary note: the numbers compared to last year do not necessarily reflect the actual growth on the year as in 2012/13 the eSeaClear system was still very much in set up mode and so numbers reported, although correct, were a smaller proportion of total clearances than current numbers where all clearances are nowprocessed through eSeaClear.
Thank you to eSeaClear for making these numbers available to us. Once the ABMA’s website has beenredesigned we will ensure that reports are added to the website as they are received. Until then we will continue to pass on the monthly reports in this format.
