Annapolis Boat Show – the ABMA is going!

At last year’s Annapolis Boat Show a meeting was held with many of the Caribbean stakeholders to discuss how the region could be better represented and thanks to the OECS, which led the initiative, Antigua has been invited to be a part of the Show, with the set up costs of the Show itself being covered by the OECS.

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (‘ABTA’) is working with the OECS and has offered to fund one ABMA member’s flight and accommodation with an opportunity for one other member to attend at its own cost.

If you are interested in attending please let us know urgently (by Monday 11th August) and whether or not you are able to cover the costs of attending.

After receiving expressions of interests the board will make a decision on which members they believe will best represent the interests of the ABMA and Antigua as well as of course an overall knowledge of the industry.

The show takes place from 9th-13th October 2014. For more information check out the event website at http://www.usboat.com/us-sailboat-show/home.

eSeaClear Statistics

Check out the eSeaClear report for June to July 2014 including details of numbers of boats, passengers and crew cleared in and out.

A cautionary note:  the numbers compared to last year do not necessarily reflect the actual growth on the year as in 2012/13 the eSeaClear system was still very much in set up mode and so numbers reported, although correct, were a smaller proportion of total clearances than current numbers where all clearances are processed through eSeaClear.

Marine Directory

We are currently working on the 2014/15 edition of the ever-popular ABMA Marine Directory and there is still time to be part of this great little publication – deadline is 22nd August to book your ad space!

There are three different types of ads available – full page/full colour; full page B&W; or half page B&W.  If you have artwork, great, but if you don’t we can have it created for you at very affordable prices.

The Directory also has a Classified and an Alphabetical Section – but please note that only ABMA members and/or advertisers will be listed in these sections.

ABMA members receive a 15% discount on prices if membership dues are paid in full, making membership even more worthwhile. Remember membership is only EC $600 per year, so if you are not a member and want to place an ad in the directory it’s well worth doing both together.

We print 5,000 Directories which are distributed around the island in all marine related outlets including chandleries, Customs & Immigration, bars and restaurants as well being placed in the skippers’ bags for major sailing regattas and events.

If you would like to take an ad to promote your business or service please call Tracy Guerrero at (268) 726 5098 or email tracy@indigoeventservices.com.
If you are not a member and want to join up please call Nadine McDavid on 725-6651 or email news@abma.ag.

The Directory is exactly what it says on the cover - a directory of services relevant to the marine industry – no photos, no write-ups, no reviews; just plain and simple information!

ABMA Staff are Working from Home

The Team is temporarily working from home while we deal with some maintenance issues in the office. In the meantime, if you need or want to see us about anything we can come to you – please just let us know.

We will advise you as soon as the office is open again.
