ABMA NEWS
ULTRA-LOW SULPHUR FUEL NOW AVAILABLE IN ANTIGUA
The Antigua and Barbuda Marine Association (ABMA) is very pleased to announce that Falmouth Harbour Marina, Catamaran Marina and Antigua Yacht Club Marina are now providing only ultra-low sulphur fuel to yachts.

LEGISLATION:
A small group of board members recently met with Katarina McGhie of the Department of Marine Services and Merchant Shipping to discuss and propose changes to legislation needed in order to ensure that the Yachting Industry is able to continue to compete aggressively in the Caribbean and to retain its leading positon within the region.

Katarina was instructed directly by the Prime Minister and has also consulted with other key players in the industry including Customs and Immigration. Having had many meetings as a board with members and other stakeholders over the last two years we are looking forward to seeing this finally move forward.
MEMBER NEWS
The planning for the Optimists North American Championships to be held in Antigua in July next year is progressing, albeit, slowly.  It often seems like one step forward and two backward.  The latest setback is the availability of RIBs.
After months, and in many cases years of preparation, the second edition of the CCR set off from Marina Rubicon, Lanzarote on 14th December at 12 noon. The fleet enjoyed almost perfect start conditions sailing in 20-25 knots of breeze from the NNW in a calm sea.
Something for everyone with Juno leaving Antigua on the 14th January for the 300nm delivery, 3 days of inshore racing then the MG Round Barbados race.

eSeaClear Statistics

Click here for the report for November including details of numbers of boats, passengers and crew cleared in and out.

A cautionary note:  the numbers compared to last year do not necessarily reflect the actual growth on the year as in 2012/13 the eSeaClear system was still very much in set up mode and so numbers reported, although correct, were a smaller proportion of total clearances than current numbers where all clearances are processed through eSeaClear.
