How to effectively apply a color palette.

Hi everyone! Here's the third tutorial on the fundamentals of color theory.

Learning how to use colors in the right proportions is extremely important for having a balanced composition!

Applying colors to a composition is like making a cake: you need a recipe!
Once you have selected a color palette, how to use it for getting a balanced result?

First, you need to pick which one will be your dominant color.
This depends on your audience and the kind of project you're working on.
All the other colors will be arranged among sub-dominant and accents.

If you don't know where to start, here are some simple rules.
With a two-color palette, try to use these ratios:

Ratios change when you have three or more colors:

With experience, it will become an intuitive process.
You'll be able to adjust your colors without looking at the exact proportions.
But be careful! More colors you use, much more difficult will be to arrange them effectively.

Next time, try to use the same color palette in different proportions:
You'll get several solutions and be able to find the perfect one for your project.
