Summer time

Summer days are dwindling here in Latvia, but we have been enjoying all that the season brought. The garden and fruit trees have continued to grow, new staff have joined our team, outreach teams have come through to partner with us, and women's retreats have been hosted.

New Staff

We are thankful to see God's faithfulness in so many areas and right now we see this through the provision of people. We are happy to welcome our new staff to the  Freedom 61 team.

Diana has recently joined our full time staff team with Freedom 61. She is from Latvia. Her primary focus is working at our Women's Center in the countryside. Diana enjoys sewing and is a talented seamstress. She would love to incorporate this skill at the center to help train women who are also interested in learning. We are excited to have her.

Megan is from Wisconsin, United States and has worked with YWAM Madison for the last 4 years. She has recently joined our full time staff here in Latvia. Megan is now living in Riga and her focus is overseeing the ministry cafe and volunteers. Megan is also a wonderful musician and worship leader. We are happy to have her here in Latvia.

Ministry with teams

We've hosted several teams who have come to Latvia to serve who have partnered with us through practical work, prayers, encouragement and creativity. Some of the teams have baked and cooked for the cafe, prayer walked, led activities at the center, shared their testimonies, built a chicken coop for the center, shared at a women's prison, hosted women's nights, and hosted a day retreat for women who minister to other women in Latvia. The retreat was a new idea and one that we hope to continue in the future. It was held in Riga and was a beautiful time, blessing and connecting women in the area who are working in ministry. It is a wonderful thing when long term and short term teams come together offering up their gifts and creating a lovely partnership.

Women's Center

This Summer, our Riga staff and interns hosted a small retreat at the center for any of the women who come to the cafe. We had one woman join (who had been there in the past) and although the retreat was smaller than what we may have thought originally, we had a lovely time and were reminded that every person is valuable. Blessing even one person is worth all our time and effort. The woman who came to the retreat also decided to stay at the center and we now have two women living there.

Pray with us:

  • For our new staff at they continue to settle in and transition to life here and for more staff to join to continue the work we are doing.
  • For the women who are living at the center - for their hearts to be open to what God wants to do.
  • For our volunteers who continue to pour out so much each week as they invest in women.
  • For the women on the streets to see and grasp the hope and love available to them in Jesus.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers,
we are so grateful for you!

Much love, the Freedom61 team
