Fall Newsletter

Hello from Latvia! We are heading into the fall season after an eventful summer. Over the last few months we welcomed a few new women into the Women’s Center, had the opportunity as staff to attend a few conferences, and started to look forward and plan for the season ahead.

Exploring New Business Opportunities

One of the reoccurring themes that has come up over the last season is the need for jobs and business opportunities for the women we work with. We hear the story over and over again that the only reason women continue to work or go back to the streets is because they can’t find work in other areas. Over the last few months we have started to reach out to different businesses to partner with them and to explore different employment options. One of our main goals for the upcoming months is to continue to explore these different opportunities and to build our network of businesses that will work with our women both in Riga and also for the women who are living at the Center.

Women’s Center

Over this summer we have had a few women move in to the Center. It is encouraging to see them grow as we have this opportunity to live life with them. Each day as we go through our program, with morning Bible studies, going on walks in the beautiful countryside, taking care of the garden, cooking together, doing art therapy projects, and taking joy in quiet moments, we see each women gain a greater perspective of who they are in Christ, and it is our privilege to walk with them on their journey.

Since we sent out our last update, we have received many generous donations towards the costs that we have as a ministry. We are so grateful for the money that has come in and for the gifts that we continue to see. At this point, we are in need of €10000, if you would continue to pray with us for these finances.

Additionally, in an answer to prayer, we have three new interns that have come for the Fall season, and we are so glad that they are here.
One of the conferences our staff had the chance to attend at the end of August was the Shine Conference, in Budapest, Hungary. It was an encouraging time of connecting with other similar ministries like ours that are also reaching out to women who have been sexually exploited. We had many great moments of prayer, worship, and teachings, gaining new vision and perspective for each of us individually as well as a team.

Pray with us:

  • We have many women showing interest in the Women’s Center every night we are in the cafe, and we have seen a few make that difficult choice to go to the Center. Please pray that more women will be able to make that step and see the new life and hope that they can have there.
  • Please be praying for refreshment for our current staff and interns after the busyness of the last season. We also have a need for new interns and full time staff both in Riga and at the Women’s Center.
  • For the remainder of our needed finances for the Women’s Center, as well as needs in Riga.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers,
we are so grateful for you!

Much love, the Freedom61 team
