 As Easter is just around the corner we have some egg-citing news to share with you. So whether you're painting eggs or eating chocolate, find a sun chair, put your feet up and have a read about what CF:G's got planned these coming weeks.
 
The past month at CF: G
What a month March has been! We've welcomed a new face, said goodbye and good luck to a long time friend, hosted our very first Northern Conference in Edinburgh, been busy planning two HYC events and we've selected our 'One's to Watch 2017'! No rest for the wicked as they say.

CF:G Northern Conference
3rd March, Edinburgh




This month Code First: Girls held our very first Northern Conference, kindly hosted by PwC, Edinburgh. It was a great opportunity to connect with our Scottish community. The event offered an opportunity to hear from industry experts as well informal networking. We are really excited to add the Northern conference to our annual schedule of events moving forward! Hack Your Career in Food Tech

The Summer Intensive will run two evenings a week over 5 weeks (Monday 19th June - Wednesday 19th July), and will cover the beginners HTML/CSS and advanced Python.

Opportunities...

Digital Academy, News UK
20th-25th August 2017




The News Academy has shaken-up its free, annual journalism summer school.

This year, 16 aspiring young digital journalists will be working alongside 10 budding developers and designers to produce a multimedia digital news product.
The all-expenses paid summer school will be held at the state-of-the-art London headquarters of The Times, The Sunday Times and The Sun between Sunday to Friday, 20th-25th August.

Tech and journalism applications from 18-25 year old applicants are now being accepted before 14th May on the following pages: Developers and Designers and Journalists.

Congratulations to... Charlotte Fereday!

It is a bittersweet time here at CF:G. We're so proud of Charlotte, who's just left us as our Programmes Manager; she'll be going on to train as a developer at Makers Academy and then will be joining Thoughtworks!  But we're sad to see her go, (although you never really leave CF:G), we know she's going on to do amazing things!

Edyta and Kornelia (both CFG alumni) have been featured in the Makers Academy films! Makers have produced these great films showcasing the background and journey of these thoughtworks scholars.

Congratulations to... Georgie Barratt!


Georgie Barratt completed our Summer Intensive course in 2016. She on Channel 5's 'The Gadget Show' as part of their new presenting line-up in January 2017 and co-hosts the weekly tech review show alongside Craig Charles, Ortis Deley and Jon Bentley.

Congratulations to...Eimear Walsh!

Eimear Walsh attended our Beginners CFG course in Autumn 2015. Originally studying  BSc Speech and Language Therapy at University College Cork she is now a Front End Developer & Growth Champion at Employt.com

This course lasts for 18 months, upon which successful completion of the qualification you’ll achieve a Diploma in IT, Software, Web & Telecoms Professionals, Level 4.

For the first 4 weeks, you’ll be on a boot camp training programme, giving you experience in software engineering principles and languages such as Agile, Java development, test-driven development.You’ll have the chance to get to grips with open source tools and web technologies such as Java, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Node JS, Python.

 Front-end Web Developer, imby.bio
 


 

You have an interest in nature, are passionate about urban spaces and the way we use them, and have some experience in coding web applications. You will work with the CTO and UX designers to build and deliver the imby web app using HTML, CSS and Elm. If you don't know the Elm language already, you will have the opportunity to learn it and use it to deliver a customer facing app in production.
