Spring is in the air, March is here!

The days are getting longer, sometimes there's sunshine and we've still got loads of events for our community here at CF:G, what could be better?
 Read on to learn more about what’s happening in world CF:G...
The past month at CF: G

Is it me or is the weather getting a little more bearable? Well, come rain or shine, CF:G are always here to spread the cheer. We've had great month from film screenings, tech summits to organising the last of the SS 2017 courses. We’ve been all over the UK and we don’t intend to stop. 

Although our SS courses are over (for now), we've still got our summer intensive and two 'hack your career' events to look forward to this year. Not forgetting that our first ever CF:G Northern Conference in Edinburgh will be starting in the next few days! We've got so much more to share with everyone and we're so excited to do so!

Dublin Tech Summit
16th February, Dublin

Last month we were invited to the Dublin Tech Summit!
The Summit was a showcase of what Dublin has to offer as global technology hub and brought together different speakers to discuss the future of innovation and the industry.

Charlotte, our Programmes Manager, was guest a speaker at the event and spoke on innovation and how female leaders can break down antiquated barriers.

It's never too late to learn how to code!

The CF: G team are super excited to launch our 7th Code First: Professionals course! Following the amazing success of the last CF: Pros course this January, we are launching our next course to kick off this March!

These are paid courses for working women, and provide the same excellent instructors and learnings, so that women who are already working get better skilled to their jobs, and don’t miss out on amazing tech opportunities.

Hack Your Career in Food Tech

CF:G and Just Eat have teamed up for our next Hack Your Career in Food Tech event!

The Food tech industry has boomed in recent years, making restaurants, caterers and takeaways rethink their relationship with tech. We've seen companies such a Just Eat, Deliveroo and uberEats gain multibillion valuations in the space of just a few years.

Our Spring/Summer 2017 courses are closed but never fear, 'Register Your Interest' forms are here! Both our Summer intensive and A/W courses interest forms are now open.

The Summer Intensive runs for four weeks, twice a week and will cover the beginners HTML/CSS and advanced Python.
The Autumn/Winter 2017 courses will start again around October/November time and are held at a variety of locations across the UK & Ireland.

Our fantastic instructors and teaching assistants work really hard on all of our courses and we thought it'd be nice to showcase their hard work here. But we need your help!

We'd love to feature every single one of our volunteers, but with 150 instructors and teaching assistants, this unfortunately isn't possible. So, we'd love your help! Congratulations to... Beverley Newing!

Beverly was a Programs Associate here at CF:G and took the HTML/CSS beginners course in January 2016, but that was only the start of her amazing coding journey. She is now as a Front End Intern at Oxford Computer Consultants, an instructor on the CF:G Oxford course and the lead organiser of Codebar Oxford!

Congratulations to... Yingzhu Quan!

Past CF: G Sheffield instructor Yingzhu Quan is leading the move for the company, Appt, to open a new office in China! Yingzhu learned to code during her time at Sheffield University, and then went on to teach other women to do the same on the CF:G course. She had been working at Appt for 2 years as a coder.

News UK’s News Academy is shaking up its annual journalism summer school to incorporate budding designers and developers to work alongside journalists.
During the digital news summer school, there will be journalism sessions from top editorial talent across The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times throughout the week. There will also be a series of workshops, masterclasses and tutorials for the budding developers and designers.
