Ann Arbor for Public Power

May 2022 Newsletter

Second annual Public Power Festival: Sunday, May 22, 2022, Burns Park Shelter from 5-9 pm.

Our campaign for an Ann Arbor municipal electric utility continues to advance. Help us celebrate at Burns Park on Sunday, May 22—we’d love to see you in person. Our newly formed Advisory Board will share their thoughts with us. There will be food trucks, two music ensembles (Mustard’s Retreat and Ralph McKee Blues Band), games for children, free children’s books about climate action, and free native plants. An artist will develop a painting on an environmental theme to share with all of us. We will have A2P2 t-shirts, caps, yard signs, and bumper stickers. Participate in the silent auction, which you can do in-person on the day of the festival. Also, bring you own chair! There aren’t enough at the Shelter for all of us.

We are asking for a suggested donation of $20 at the event however you can pre-register for the Public Power Festival instead here. By pre-registering you can select different tiers of support that will include various A2P2 materials, such as a yard sign, t-shirt, cap, bumper sticker. See below what these look like!

Become a Supporter Today!

Unfortunately our fight for a green future is expensive, if you can please consider becoming a supporter to help us! You can make a one time donation here,  however we have just added a new monthly supporter option that will be billed every month. Please consider signing up to become a recurring monthly supporter to help fund a clean and publicly owned future here!

The situation in Ukraine

As we stated before, we lament Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and a war that is claiming many lives. Our sympathies are with the Ukrainian people as they suffer from the senseless violence of armed conflict. We admire their determination to fight for their country. We hope that a ceasefire and end to the hostilities can be negotiated as soon as possible.

In the meantime

We’re proud to be doing our part in Ann Arbor to eliminate the use of fossil fuels and to establish our own municipal electric utility. Please join us. We welcome everyone to our events. Check out our website at or contact us directly at
