Nailah Ellis | Ellis Island Tea
From selling tea from the trunk of her car to partnering with Hollywood’s Kevin Hart. As the largest Black female-owned beverage manufacturer in the United States, Ellis Island Tea is on the cusp of becoming a beverage empire.
Nailah Ellis and her brand, Ellis Island Tea, has become one of the most talked about success stories to come out of Detroit manufacturing in recent memory, with Hollywood elites raving over its herbaceous blend of hibiscus and pure cane sugar, a combination that spans several generations.
This week, Ellis, who started her company more than a decade ago by recreating her Jamaican great-grandfather’s recipe for hibiscus tea, announced a deal with one of those famous fans – actor and comedian, Kevin Hart. To lock in that investment, she recently traveled to Trinidad and Tobago to negotiate a deal with a major bottler that could be a game-changer in the beverage industry.
"We’re about to change the game for the entire beverage industry, and Kevin Hart is very excited to be a part of that."
