Tourism Industry Update

From the Managing Director

Tourism Colleagues,

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is Tourism Day on the Hill. While our yearly event will be virtual this year, I am grateful for the opportunity to update the Legislature on tourism’s path to recovery. Legislative investments have put us in a position of strength compared to other states, but we know it will still take several years to restore our $10.1 billion tourism economy. Our Red Emerald Tourism Strategy is guiding us through recovery.

Industry Workforce Survey

As we continue along the path of economic recovery, our office is seeking responses to an industry workforce survey. This survey seeks to better understand the needs and concerns of business owners preparing for post-pandemic staffing and operations. Information collected from this survey will help inform state leadership on how best to appropriate funds and/or develop programs that will assist local businesses with staffing needs and aid in your recovery.

We are seeking responses to this survey by the end of day, Tuesday, Feb 16.

Tourism Day on the Hill

Wednesday’s Tourism Day on the Hill will look much different this year. There will be no physical event at the Capitol, but UTIA and the industry will still host a box lunch delivery and “Name Your Flavor” ice cream for legislators.

UTIA will host its full membership meeting via Zoom from 9:00 to 10:30 am.
