Fall Fundraisers Succeed in Supporting Our Performing Arts 

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Wine and Food Tasting and Lord & Taylor Charity Event. More than 80 people attended the tasting and 200 Lord & Taylor coupons were sold. All funds raised through these fundraisers will go back to support the performing arts at MPHS either through faculty submitted grants or senior scholarships. 

A special thank you goes to the following, who went above and beyond in making these fundraisers a success: 
  • Wine and Food Tasting: Donna Halliwell, accompanist to Paulina Hill, vocals; Olivia Fairless, performer; and Dan Collins and Tess Steuerwald, audio. 
  • Lord & Taylor: Students Kelly Boland, Eamonn Timoney, Jay Patel, Joe Tuosto, Will Schmidt, George Schmidt, Sean Keegan, and Daniel Keegan.
MPHS Marching Band Season Ends on a High Note 
Congratulations to the  MPHS Marching Band and its Director David Marks and his staff on their 6th place win at the New York State Field Band Conference (NYSFBC) on November 1, 2015, at Syracuse University.The championship is the culmination of a two-month long competition season for the marching band.

A Message from David Marks

The MPHS Marching Band has always been about traditions. This year, however, it has been about embracing change. Each member of the band went out on their own personal "Quest" and in the process we have slightly altered each of the traditions. "The band that never stood still" brought that phrase to a new level with more drill and more visuals than we ever imagined and in the process we each learned the lesson not to be held back by what we think our limits are but rather to reach for our dreams. 

Numbers are numbers and placements are placements but group accomplishments are what success is all about. This band has pushed MP to the next level of visual achievement. For years to come the lessons of the last few months will impact us all.

During our performance in Kingston we had a collective moment of achievement when the band finally clicked! 52 kids now get what it means to reach for a goal and grab it. The staff walked into critique and one of the visual judges literally stood up and clapped. He had not seen the show since the second week of the season and was amazed by what they had learned and how far they have come.

Congratulations to each of you who have been part of this Quest! This program is what it is because of what you all have and continue to do to support the kids and the program in general. A huge thank you on behalf of the staff and myself. A personal thank you to the amazing group of staff members that I get to work with each season and that work tirelessly to continue to improve the program (that most of them came from)!

Raffle Tickets Make Good Stocking Stuffers! MPHS 2016 musical will be “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” the story of a girl from Kansas who moves to New York City to marry a rich man in the fast-paced 1920s. The musical is conducting a raffle. The first prize in is Go Pro Camera. Others include $100 gift card, selfie stick and $25 gift card. Tickets are $5. See any cast member or Mrs. Halliwell for raffle tickets.

Monday, December 21 at 7 p.m.
MPHS Gym
All cast and crew members must attend

Reservations are required, no walk-ins. Each cast/crew member and two  guests of each cast/crew member are admitted with the musical participation fee. (no tickets required).  Please email Mrs. Halliwell if you would like to purchase a ticket beyond your allotted tickets.

CONCERT DATE CHANGE 

The Jr. High Chorus Winter Concert has been changed to Tuesday Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. The Madrigals and Jr. High Chorus will perform.  This is a date change from the district calendar and a change from the community e-blast that went out last week.

The High School Choir Winter Concert will be held on Thursday Dec. 17 at 8 p.m. The Madrigals and the High School Concert Choir will perform.
