Get Your Story In!

Don't miss this opportunity to put your head together with Craig Froman over your children's story. Craig is an award-winning children's author and editor, and he can tell you what your story needs to be more appealing in today's competitive children's market.

On Saturday afternoon, November 2, Craig will spend the afternoon with us, discussing our stories and sharing general principles on how to write a book that children will love and publishers will buy. The workshop and critiquing session will last from 1-4 and the cost is $25.

Send your story to me at alisontaylorbrown@me.com, and I will forward it on to Craig. The sooner you get it in, the more time he will have to study it.
Road Trip!  Everyone Welcome!

Crow Johnson is a treasure. Musician, writer, and fiber artist, her book, Flights of Fancy, which Ann Hood says, "hums--with wonder and wit and intelligence with the natural world and knitting and generosity," is really lovely.

On our road trip of November 14, we will have the opportunity to step across the road and hear Crow, along with Crescent Dragonwagon, at the historic FolkWays Heritage Center where they will be presenting An Evening with Crescent and Crow. Find out more about Crow at her lovely website: crowspun.com.

Crow will also be signing her book on October 29 at NightBird Books in Fayetteville.

It's not that far and snaky to Winslow, and cabins are still available at the historic Sky-Vue Lodge. Beautiful views, hiking trails, cozy cabins, full breakfast, and VILLAGE WRITERS. We won't do many road trips, so don't miss this one. If you've wondered about who we are and what we do, this is a great time to come hang out with us.

Cast includes: Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, Forest Whitaker, Sigourney Weaver, William Hurt.
Research Matters!
Thanks to Loretta for sharing her time and expertise.

If you missed the last Writers' Night Out, you missed learning about many cool resources that the library has to offer, including a database of hundreds of periodicals and thousands of articles that you can access right from your computer. Getting the tiny details correct is the mark of good writing. Research is the key.
