PTA Presidents,
The 2016 Teacher of the Year “Night of the Stars” celebration committee is planning this year’s festivities.  This event will be held on Thursday, March 12th.  Each year 63 Teacher of the Year awardees celebrate their fantastic accomplishments.  The evening’s activities include dinner, entertainment by local students, door prizes and awards.
Seminole County PTA’s have a unique opportunity to provide a door prize donation which will be awarded that night, customized to their specific school’s Teacher of the Year recipient.  The donation should include a prize package valued at $50, not including presentation (basket, ribbon, etc.). We suggest gift cards to restaurants, spas, retail stores – no school-related items. We would like each teacher to receive a personalized door prize.
It’s easy to participate!  You may send a note, call or text to confirm your PTA’s contribution.  Please confirm by February 20.
1.       We will arrange pick up of your gift basket/prize at your school by March 6th.
2.      No time to shop?  Provide a check and we have volunteers who will shop and create a basket for you.
3.      If your school would like to “adopt” or “sponcer” another school by providing their $50 value prize it would be phenomenal!!
I’m confident our enthusiastic collaboration will show our exceptional Seminole County teachers how much we love and appreciate all they do each day not just with our kids but for each student whose lives they touch.
Thank you all for all YOU do.  Have a fantastic day and I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks for Supporting the Arts in Our Schools!
The 18th annual Arts Alive in Seminole, sponsored by the Foundation for SCPS, was held in November and was a huge success. This gala fundraiser for the arts raised almost $100,000 which will be used to support arts programming in Seminole County Public Schools. District-wide events and programs that are funded include All County Chorus and Band, the Seminole County Marching Band Festival, art teacher supplies, arts-related classroom grants, and many more. In addition, each school receives a check to be used as needed for arts programs. A big thank you goes out to the following PTA/PTSAs, who along with SCCPTA donated auction items or cash to Arts Alive: Altamonte Elementary, Carillon Elementary, Chiles Middle, Eastbrook Elementary, Geneva Elementary, Goldsboro Elementary, Heathrow Elementary, Indian Trails Middle, Lake Brantley High, Lake Mary High, Markham Woods Middle, Oviedo High, Sabal Point Elementary, Sanford Middle, Seminole High, South Seminole Middle, Tuskawilla Middle, Walker Elementary, Wekiva Elementary, Wilson Elementary, and Winter Springs High. Many PTA members also volunteered at the event. Thank you all for making Arts Alive a great success and for supporting a strong arts education for our children!
