Looking for a lab to meet your clinical and analytical needs? Access a full array of services for human, animal, epidemiological, and field studies through a partnership between Tufts CTSI and the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts (HNRCA) Clinical and Analytical Core Laboratory (CACL).

Comprised of the Nutrition Evaluation Laboratory (NEL) and Mass Spectrometry Lab (MSL), the CACL provides scientific investigators a comprehensive biochemical test menu, specimen handling services and analytical study design assistance.

The CACL would love to talk about your study before you begin the collection phase. To get started, submit a service request (be sure to select Analytical Laboratory Services).

REDCap Tips & Tricks

Are you using Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap)? REDCap is free, HIPAA-compliant, web-based software available to researchers and study team members at all Tufts CTSI partner institutions. To request an account, please complete our online form and be sure to select REDCap Database Account.

To get more out of REDCap, follow our helpful tips, including these:
  • Need to transfer data from paper surveys, charts, etc., and worry about data accuracy? You can request to activate a Double Data Entry feature before you begin your data collection. This feature designates two users per study and a reviewer. The reviewer has the ability to merge records created by both data entry users, after viewing differences and adjudicating those differences using the Data Comparison Tool. This creates a third, final record in the set.

  • Once you begin data collection, moving your project to Production ensures you're maintaining data accuracy and integrity. The post-production change control process provides an additional check to ensure that data that was already collected is not deleted, re-coded or overwritten unintentionally.
Need some one-on-one help with REDCap? Submit a request using our online form.
