CTSA Institutions Collaborate to Enhance Researcher Education

In 2014, the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Consortium launched the Enhancing Clinical Research Professionals’ Training and Qualification (ECRPTQ) project to improve the efficiency of clinical trials by creating standards for research workforce training. Teams from across the Consortium worked together on this important, multi-phase initiative, and two articles about their work were recently published in the Journal of Clinical and Translational Science A third paper on the development of online GCP training is expected to be published soon.

Get Core Laboratory Services on the Tufts Boston Campus

Looking for a lab to meet your clinical and analytical needs? Access a full array of services for human, animal, epidemiological, and field studies through a partnership between Tufts CTSI and the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts (HNRCA) Clinical and Analytical Core Laboratory (CACL).

Comprised of the Nutrition Evaluation Laboratory (NEL) and Mass Spectrometry Lab (MSL), the CACL provides scientific investigators a comprehensive biochemical test menu, specimen handling services and analytical study design assistance.

The CACL would love to talk about your study before you begin the collection phase. To get started, submit a service request (be sure to select Analytical Laboratory Services).

REDCap Tips & Tricks

Are you using Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap)? REDCap is free, HIPAA-compliant, web-based software available to researchers and study team members at all Tufts CTSI partner institutions. To request an account, please complete our online form and be sure to select REDCap Database Account.

To get more out of REDCap, follow our helpful tips, including these:
  • When you perform a data quality check, you can exclude discrepancies to prevent them from displaying again. Click the 'exclude' link for a result in the table of discrepancies for a rule, and that result will not be counted next time in the number of discrepancies for that rule, nor will it be displayed in the table of results. Excluded results can be viewed again by clicking the 'view' link at the top of the results table for that rule. To remove the exclusion status, click the 'remove exclusion' link in the results table.

  • You can build surveys that use repetitive choices faster by using the 'copy existing choices' option. When building forms where you are using the same set of choices for different multiple choice fields, click on the 'copy existing choices' link (above the Choice dialogue box in the 'Add New Field' pop-up).
Need some one-on-one help with REDCap? Come to a Drop-in Session, every Wednesday from 8:00-9:00AM.
