SAVE THE DATE: 29-30 September 2021 – MediaFutures Annual Meeting

MediaFutures is looking forward to welcoming you to its first Annual Meeting. The event will take place in Media City Bergen, on 29-30 September 2021.

The MediaFutures event will be held during, and as part of, MCB Future Week.

We will have a diverse program, including talks from MediaFutures researchers and industry partners, invited international speakers, interactive sessions and lots of opportunities to network. More detailed information will be provided at a later date.

MediaFutures researcher receives 8 million NOK from RCN

In a press release on 24 June, 2021, the Research Council of Norway
announced which projects have received support in the application category; Research Projects. The list included Erik Knudsen’s project “NEWSREC – The Double-edged Sword of News Recommenders’ Impact on Democracy”, under the highly competitive program Research projects for young talents.

MediaFutures with four papers at ACM UMAP 2021

ACM UMAP 2021 – The 29th Conference on User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization will be held fully online from Utrecht, the Netherlands between June 21-25, 2021.

NordMedia 2021 – “Crisis and Resilience: Nordic Media Research in the Frontline”

NordMedia 2021 will be held fully virtually this year on 18 – 20 August 2021. The theme of the conference is “Crisis and Resilience: Nordic Media Research in the Frontline”.

Brita Ytre-Arna, MediaFutures’ Work Package 1 leader, will participate in the panel discussion of “The resilience of different types of media systems”.

2 open positions: Postdoc and PhD

MediaFutures is looking for a Postdoc in Recommender Systems and a PhD candidate in Computational Social Science. Apply by 5 July and 15 August, respectively.
