Welcome to our latest Chamber newsletter

Successful businesses know that their most important resource is their staff. They make investments in their people and reap the rewards.

Money is not always the primary reason as to why people stay with their current employer - there's more to it! Retaining staff can be achieved by creating a workplace that supports the diversity of its employees and understanding their own individual needs.

Flexible hours, working from home or offering professional training are just some of the many things that you can do to keep your staff happy, engaged and loyal!

Here at the Chamber, we can help you to better support your staff! Did you know that your membership extends to your employees also? When you join the Chamber, you'll have access to our great package of membership benefits including training, workshops, networking, advocacy and member discounts.

Take advantage of your membership today and support your most important resource!

On Friday 31 March we had a workshop with Smart Waikato called "Get Ahead with Gen Z". It was an informative workshop aimed at giving us a better understanding of how Gen Z tick and how to successfully incorporate them into the workplace.

Event wrap up - Get Ahead with Gen Z Workshop

On Friday 31 March we were fortunate to host an event that was facilitated by Sally Birch and Maddie Walker from "Smart Waikato".

Smart Waikato is a charitable trust that partners with business, education and government agencies to deliver a range of practical, effective and innovative initiatives that better support rangatahi (youth) transitioning from education to employment.

Maddie (Gen Z) and Sally (Gen Y) were a fantastic duo and they made the workshop fun, relaxed, informative and incredibly insightful.

Maddie spoke candidly about her own personal hardships she faced as a "Gen Z" during her high school years, studying and trying to find employment in a pre and post covid world.

Her experiences highlighted a need for "cultural change" in the way our businesses currently hire, induct, employ and support the Gen Z population.

The workshop gave us a clear insight as to what makes Gen Z "tick" and how we can better successfully incorporate our younger people into the workforce.

This workshop couldn't have been made possible without the funding from Waipa District Council - thank you!
