Dear Friends,

Chokyi Nyima’s Rinpoche's vision is to build an authentic Buddhist temple here at Gomde UK, preserving Buddhism for future generations. We rejoice that the project is moving steadily along, with the first part of the foundation laid just last week.

During our recent webinar, 'Building the Future of Buddhism: A Conversation on the Thubten Chökor Ling Temple Project', both Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche and Lama Öser talked to us about the importance of supporting the project in whatever way we can.

At the end of the webinar we announced our plans to launch our mantra campaign to enable everyone to be involved. We’re delighted that the mantra campaign is now live and you are invited you to take part!

All details are below and can also be found on our website.

Our aim together is to collect one million mantras!

The mantra campaign is a way for everybody to join together and make aspirations for the temple by reciting a specific mantra. By doing this we can all be part of the vision and united in our efforts, no matter the distance between us.

Buddha Shakyamuni is the source of the authentic Dharma, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche places special emphasis on the Buddha and the Buddha Shakyamuni sadhana forms part of our daily morning practice at Gomde UK, we have therefore chosen the Buddha Shakyamuni mantra for this campaign.

The mantra of Buddha Shakyamuni:

Reciting the Buddha Shakyamuni Mantra

Lama Oser advised that when reciting the mantra, it is most beneficial to make heartfelt prayers for the completion of Rinpoche’s vision and to make these aspirations as meaningful, profound and vast as possible!

You can recite the mantra on its own, or if you wish to recite the whole sadhana, it is available to download from our website here.

At the end of your recitation, it would be excellent to dedicate the merit of this activity and the wording for this is as follows:

Sonam diyi tamchey sigpa nyi
By this merit may all attain omniscience

Tobney nyepey dranam pamje nej
May it defeat the enemy, wrongdoing

Kyega nachi balab trukpa yi
From the stormy waves of birth, old age, sickness and death,

Sipey tsoley drowa drolwa shog
From the ocean of samsara, may I free all beings.

We encourage people to recite the mantra on a daily basis, counting the number of mantras said each day and then periodically send the total to Gomde. The total of mantras achieved will then be displayed on the website.

Sending your mantra count

When you get in touch please send your new mantra count as opposed to the running total to avoid double counting. We have created a simple form to do this, accessed here and also on the Mantra Campaign Webpage.

Thank you all.

May the Temple be built in a timely, harmonious and effortless way.
May countless beings benefit from its existence and may many gain liberation.
May it be a home for study and practice of the authentic Dharma for numerous generations.
