Dear Friends of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling,
The activities at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling and Nagi Gompa have continued to expand in a remarkable way—despite the fact that Kathmandu has been in and out of strict lockdown as a result of COVID-19.
The monastery has completed housing construction for hundreds of monks; made the young monks’ school fully operational; provided thousands of meals to Boudhanath residents through its restaurant, Utpala Cafe, and continued to expand its nursery and green sustainability efforts—all as the monks and nuns continue their study and practice uninterrupted.
In response to the pandemic and its social and economic impact on the most vulnerable populations, Shenpen, the monastery’s social work organization, has provided over 5,000 food parcels to families of day laborers, and distributed over 1,200 cooked meals—benefitting more than 25,000 people. Shenpen continues to distribute food parcels, face masks, and sanitary items (soap, water purifier droplets, menstrual products) to families who are desperately struggling due to the pandemic.
The monastery team has completed the construction of the beautiful new West Monk Quarters, a significant and beneficial endeavor that provides comfortable living quarters for over one hundred monks. You can tour it in the video below, produced by the monastery administration.

All of these activities, as well as additional ongoing projects of our monastic institutions, are featured on the new Shedrub Development Fund website: www.shedrubfund.org
Shedrub Development Fund was established by Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche to fund and support these virtuous activities. Together as a unified global mandala of monks, nuns, lay practitioners, students, and supporters, we can strengthen and grow the institutions that nurture and teach what is most meaningful and beneficial: the authentic dharma, source of genuine happiness.
These are extraordinary times. In order to support and make an auspicious link to the activities described on the website, we encourage everyone to make a donation in any amount. Supporting monastic activity is a special opportunity to gain merit and benefit others around the world. At this time, more than ever, your continued financial support is crucial to protect our monastic community and to support Rinpoche's vast activities. We thank each of you for your past support, and we join in making aspirations that Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche's expansive vision continues to unfold.
