Tokpa Tulku Residence
The Six Paramitas. Emphasising Meditative Concentration and Wisdom

The Six Paramitas — generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, meditative concentration and wisdom are the foundation for all the other practices.

The teachings will provide instruction to develop bodhichitta, the mind of enlightenment: the wish to attain enlightenment for the sake of others.  Most importantly it provides instruction as to how we can move from bodhchitta in aspiration to bodhichitta in action; said to be the difference of wishing to go and actually going.

It is possible to present these teachings in many different ways and Tokpa Tulku will give teachings in accordance with the inclination, level and interest of the group. This is a rare opportunity to study and contemplate the Dharma at a deeper level with an experienced and skilled teacher and guide who has a special interest in teaching westerners.

Medicine and Compassion
17th –21st June 2020

What is the Medicine and Compassion Retreat?

The retreat is an opportunity for like-minded professionals and those involved with all forms of care-giving to come together and focus on the virtues of compassion and explore the possibility of increasing one’s capacity for compassion.

We would all like to have compassion that is more stable, inclusive, and effortless, but methods for accomplishing this are not commonly taught. This retreat will explore, in an in-depth way, methods that can help expand one’s own compassion and to teach others about compassion, and decrease the tendency towards compassion fatigue.

Dr David Shlim will lead this retreat with lama Oser. Dr Shlim has lead this retreat in USA for a number of years. He is one of the worlds most renowned doctors of travel medicine, has been the doctor for all the monks at our monastery in Nepal - freely offering this service for many years and is the joint author, along with Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche of the book Medicine and Compassion. Last but by no means least, Dr Shlim was the tour doctor for the Rolling Stones!

The Wheel of Life
 Thangka Painting with Andy Weber

NEW WEEKEND DATES: 13th - 15th March

The dates of the Andy's forthcoming retreat will now be 13th - 15th march, running from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. We also have new options for one and two day attendance.

Andy will guide us through the Wheel of Life, a symbolic representation of saṃsāra (or cyclic existence) what it is and how it comes into being. Essential understanding for those wishing to deepen their understanding of this key Buddhist theory and especially useful for practitioners who wish to break from the endless round of samsara.

An amazing experience using the traditional style of creating the image often bringing the teachings onto a new level.
