Bike To Work Challenge Registration Now Open

The weather is finally warming up, flowers are in bloom and you now what that means...it's almost time for our Bike To Work Challenge! Coming up in May, TransOptions' Bike To Work Challenge is the premier bike commuting competition of northwest New Jersey.

Registration is now open for this free and friendly event where experienced and novice riders get together to compete for prizes.

The goal of this competition is to encourage commuters to use their bikes more often instead of cars. Commuting by bike reduces traffic, decrease air pollution, improves health, and saves money.

You can download our GoForGood app (available on Google Play and the App Store) to register for the challenge or sign-up on the registration webpage. Then, use the app to track your trips and mileage.

Ride as much as you can from May 1st to May 31st! You can ride the entire way to work, to the bus stop, train station, or even drive to a park & ride and bike the rest of the way. As long as your commute involves riding a bike, it counts!

You don't have to commute by bike every day, but with every ride, you'll have a greater chance of winning prizes.

And this year, there are more ways to win prizes than ever!

Get 2 to 4 coworkers or friends to come join you and compete for the Team Prize.

• Share your Bike To Work photos with us and win prizes in our brand new Bike to Work's Next Top “Roll” Model Search. Get rolling and share your first photo to automatically win a $5 Shop Rite gift card, courtesy of the Shop Rite of Greater Morristown!

• All first year participants are eligible for our inaugural Rookie Riders category, in which awards are given out to the first year rider with the most trips and highest mileage.

Bike Right With TransOptions

Warmer weather also means it's Bike Right season! Here at TransOptions, we're pretty excited about our upcoming Bike Right programs (and snazzy, new banner pictured above!) with registration now open for our free Kids and Adult Learn to Ride courses.

Although we have several Kids Learn To Rides scheduled between now and October, we currently have one Adult Learn To Ride scheduled for June 17th at the FM Kirby Children's Center in Madison.

Our Learn To Rides are popular and spaces are limited so if you or someone you know is looking to learn how to ride a bicycle safely, please be sure to reserve your spot on our registration page today.

Developing bike riding skills and knowledge is important for everyone sharing the road whether on a bike, walking or in a motor vehicle. Our League of American Bicyclist certified coaches look forward to helping you safely get started!

For more information, please contact Jess Lubas at jlubas@transoptions.org or 973.267.7600.

TransOptions was proud to be a part of the 2017 National Bike Summit action in Washington D.C. last month! While there, we just couldn't resist snapping a few shots of the protected bike lanes (photo above) and bicycle parking (photo below) taken before a tour at NPR headquarters.
