July e-Newsletter.

July saw me photographing brothers Sal & Alex, Miso's birthday and our biggest instameet yet! This edition also features tips on how to photograph kids and pets. I've also been working on re-designing my website too, so hopefully we will have it up and running before next months edition of the newsletter.

Please note, you can click on any the images below to see more photos.

Miso's First Birthday.

Like any good parents, we threw a small party for our fur-baby's first Birthday, complete with party hats, presents and a dog-friendly cake!

As you can see from the photos she enjoyed her cake and had a great day!

Sal & Alex.

I photographed brothers, Salvatore and Alessandro at The Western Sydney Parklands on a sunny afternoon. They were a great duo to spend the afternoon with!

My point of difference is that everything I shoot with you goes onto a USB, with the best ones edited in high resolution, so you can do what you wish with your photos!

Veterans Instameet.

We held the second Veterans Instameet on Sunday 19th July at Cockatoo Island. To date, it was our largest turn out yet with thirteen people coming along for the shoot.

The Instameet is open to anyone, not just veterans. Whether you use your phone or a DSLR , it doesn't matter, everyone is welcome! We will be holding another in September and we're looking to beat record participation.

If you or anyone you know is interested in coming, click the image below and LIKE the page or reply to this email and I'll keep you up to date with the planning.

Tips on photographing kids and pets.

I have been contacted by a few people over the last few weeks asking for tips on how to improve their photography skills, so I thought I'd incorporate a new section into the newsletter to help you all improve your skills!

This month I want to look at shooting kids and pets. I'm guessing your asking why I'm putting the two in the same category? I'll tell you why, because neither of them do what you want! You've heard the saying "Never work with kids or animals."

Lets start with the basics, and what I believe is the most important tip, no matter what camera or phone your using, get down to their level, eye level! Nothing is worse than seeing a photo of the top of your child's head or your dogs back.

Kids and pets will never sit still for long enough for you to play around with your camera. Set your camera to auto and take a quick shot to get the settings correct, switch to manual and duplicate them being sure to keep a fast shutter speed and a high aperture. This will reduce the likelihood of them blurring if they move.

Take note of where the sun is, try have them facing the sun or having it offset, this will stop the subject being too dark with the rest of the photo too bright.

I hope these tips help? If you try it out, send me a photo so I can see how you go!
