CONGREGATION IN A SHOE BOX!

Congregation in a shoebox. Where on earth can we find that? Well, in the NAC! Months ago the organizers of the International Church Day asked/appealed the congregations for a special presentation of their congregation within a shoebox. Have a look: www.schuhkarton-ikt2014.de/

Our shoe box!

As you know our congregation took part, as well. After the open-air divine service our rector explained the idea. Proposals were made many of which could be included. Like that our shoebox came into being with the following contents:

  • Letter of the rector

  • Information about our congregation

  • A voucher

  • A DVD with pictures of past events

  • Leaflets about Denia and the Costa Blanca

  • A bottle of 43 Licor (made of 43 different herbs and tastes delicious with milk!)
  • Branches and fruits of the olive tree, almond tree and algarobo tree.

All these things were put into a shoebox which was decorated with little parasols, fruit pictures and hearts...

Our sister congregation Kirchlengern

During the ICT these shoeboxes were displayed and every congregation that had contributed one could take home the shoebox of another congregation.

Only a few days after the ICT Priest Lutz Berthold rector of the congregation (Kirchlengern – district church NRW) who got our shoebox got into touch with our rector. He sent his regards to our congregation which were passed on Sunday 15.06.14 by our rector.

Here is a link to the website of the congregation of Kirchlengern where one can also see their report about our shoe box, along with another report about their creation of their own shoe box.

Our sister congregation Sindelfingen

Sunday 15.06.14 our rector also reported on the congregation whose shoebox we got. It’s the congregation of Sindelfingen (district church South Germany) After Divine Service everybody could have a close look at the contents of the shoebox which was stuffed with many interesting details about the congregation of Sindelfingen. Meanwhile our rector has got into contact with the South German congregation. He has found out that it is a so-called Spanish congregation because divine services in Spanish language have taken place there for many years. What a coincidence!

Here below some pictures of the shoebox from Sindelfingen...

Now we are twinned with two shoebox congregations!
