Trail Opening

The Lavender Federation Trail is a project of South Australian Recreation Trails Inc. (SARTI). SARTI and Friends of the Riesling Trail invite you to attend the celebration of the completion of the Lavender Federation Trail; commenced in 1997 and finished in 2018.

The day will be enhanced with displays and information from the walking community, outdoor stores and promoters of healthy life-styles.

Saturday 5th May, Lennon Street Park, Clare.

  • 09:00 - Onwards, conducted walks available on sections of the trail.
  • 12:00 - Lunches available for purchase.
  • 12:30 - Official Opening.
All are welcome, bring your friends and family,
Spread the word!

Look for most up to date information on the website, facebook and twitter.

Brochures and maps are available from the Clare Valley Wine, Food and Tourism Center, 8 Spring Gully Road, Clare. And most Visitor Information and Tourist Centres.

Map 6 covering the Manoora to Clare section of the trail will be launched at this event.

Please remember the trail is currently only officially open from Murray Bridge to Manoora. Attempting to walk the new sections prior to the 5th May 2018 may damage the good relationship we have with local farmers, and other property owners. Please do not do it. We want the trail to be there for everyone for a long time to come.

The website will have a page dedicated to news about the celebration at Clare at:

Bits & Pieces:-

  • Are you a “Friend of the Lavender Federation Trail”?
Memberships are available from just $10 PA, a small outlay to assist in maintaining the over 400 km of trails SARTI has under construction and opened since 1999.
Membership details are on the web site and you can join on line for one year or multiple years.
  • Fire Season Started from 1st November.

Please note that the trail is closed on "Fire Ban" Days.
The LFT is a long trail, going through many different "fire regions".
You will need to check to see if the region you are walking is will be affected on the day you wish to walk.
With care and planning you can still enjoy walking in warmer weather.
You can find a good resource "Risk Management and Safety"
    on the Walking SA website
There are also these SA CFS pages to keep a close eye on.

Do you have any other favourite resources that might help others?
  • We wish every one of you a
Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year
    Enjoy your walking!

You are welcome to tell us about your walk experience of the Lavender Federation Trail.
