Dear Troy Prep Families,

We hope you all had a restful and healthy Thanksgiving holiday. In this season of gratitude, we are so thankful and grateful for our Roxbury Prep team opening their doors for select students this past Monday! We are proud to celebrate this major milestone for our students, families, and the entire Uncommon community as we welcome students back to our Boston schools. This would not be possible without the continued support of every portion of our Uncommon community – and especially you, families! Thank you for your support as we continue to navigate this school year as we drive towards reopening in January.

School Updates

Parent/Guardian Survey Coming in January!

In early January, we will launch a brief survey for all parents and guardians. This is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts and feedback directly with us as we work to provide the highest quality schools for your child(ren). The survey will open on Monday, January 4th and close on Sunday, January 17th. You will receive a link to the survey via email once it opens. We look forward to hearing from you!

Meal Service Updates:

For Remote Only Students:

Food service pick-up will continue throughout the school year for all remote only scholars every Friday:
  • Food can be picked up from either location: 2 Polk St Troy, NY 12180 (through the Duke Street Alleyway): from 9 AM - 12 PM or 3055 6th Ave Troy, NY 12180 (on Douw Street): from 12 PM - 3 PM

For Hybrid Students:

For all hybrid scholars, on days when scholars are in the building, they will receive breakfast, lunch and snack in person and will receive a set of meals to cover their non-in-person learning day as well. For example:
  • On Monday, they will eat meals in person and will take home meals to cover their food consumption for Tuesday
  • On Wednesday, they will eat meals in person and will take home 2 days worth of meals to cover their food consumption for Thursday and Friday

December is Emotional Wellness Month at Uncommon!

Emotional Wellness is the ability to deal with challenges in life, build positive relationships with others, and encourage the use of healthy coping skills. When we help our students learn the names of their feelings and how to express them in appropriate ways we are supporting their emotional wellness. By practicing emotional wellness we are reducing our stress, getting quality sleep, using healthy coping skills, and choosing a brighter outlook on life!

Below are a few resources to help you and your family practice emotional wellness!

Home Energy Assistance Program:
