Dear Troy Prep Families,

Across our schools, every month is black history month and we honor black excellence every day. And, throughout the month of February, we are excited to have the opportunity to celebrate and honor all the changemakers and trailblazers who’ve come before us. We salute legends who recently passed like Hank Aaron, Cicely Tyson, and John Lewis –powerful influencers who paved the way for future actors, athletes, activists, and public servants. And we also honor the new generation of changemakers, like Madam Vice President Kamala Harris, who inspires children everywhere to strive for their dreams, and Amanda Gorman, who has captivated the nation with her elegant, poignant words. These figures continue to be beacons of hope in these trying times. They remind us that it is always worthwhile to look to the future and strive for more.

Thank you as always for your support and partnership. As a reminder, these emails will now be monthly, so expect to hear from us again in March.

Social wellness is the ability to relate and connect with other people, while valuing others and acting respectfully. It encourages us to work together as a community and to find connection with others and the world around us. When we practice social wellness we strengthen relationships by interacting with others in positive and productive ways! Below are resources for you and your family to practice social wellness throughout the month!

Help make sure NY schools are funded!

New York's public schools have faced unprecedented challenges this past school year, including increased costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Governor Cuomo has identified the need for $15 billion in federal aid in order to avoid cuts to education funding. Please join us in supporting the call for federal officials to provide an aid package that provides the necessary funds to stabilize state budgets and Fund NY Schools by clicking and sharing this link!
