Dear Camden Prep Families,

March is Women’s History Month. Every day at our schools, we honor the women that have blazed a path for all of our students, but we are excited to have an opportunity to acknowledge the tremendous contributions that women leaders have made to our nation and our schools. We celebrate inspirational figures like Isabel Allende, who has constructed magical worlds and paid homage to women in all of her novels, and Rebecca Lee Crumpler, who was the first black woman in the U.S. to earn a medical degree. And we salute our community of women who support our schools, our families, and our students every day – our leaders, teachers, social workers and ops team members are the backbone of Uncommon. These everyday heroes and historical figures remind us that our work, our accomplishments, and our success cannot be achieved without the women who have and continue to shape and change history.

As a reminder, this newsletter is now monthly. We look forward to sharing more updates with you all in April.

School Updates

Reminder: In-Person Start Date: Monday, March 15th :

We are excited to reopen our buildings for in-person, hybrid instruction on Monday, March 15th. The health and safety of our community remains our highest priority. We are committed to following CDC guidance and will reopen with health and safety protocols including, social distancing, masks, sanitization stations, and more. Similar to the fall, as we re-open buildings it will be in a hybrid model where students who have opted to attend in-person will come to the school building some days and learn remotely from home on other days, based on the schedules already shared with families. Students who have opted for 100% remote instruction will continue to receive virtual instruction. We cannot wait to see students, to feel their energy, and to hear the sounds of learning in our classrooms once again next week!

Opt in for Aramark Meal Deliveries:

Our commitment to providing meals remains the same as we shift to a new model and close our doors for distribution. Rather than picking up meals, Aramark will deliver them to you! They have shifted to solely deliveries based on zip code to better serve our community as the weather changes. Since Aramark serves the city of Camden, you will be able to receive meals for all your Camden school-age children. We hope this is more convenient for you! To receive free delivered meals, you must complete this survey and you must respond to Aramark’s confirmation email to complete your request. Please be on the lookout for their follow up email! Once your information is confirmed, within 7 days you will begin to receive meals weekly.

Camden Prep High School Building Announcement

We opened our high school this year at the Copewood campus and welcomed our 8th graders from Mt. Ephraim and new students from the Camden community. As we shared on February 26th, we purchased a site to build a new, state-of-the-art facility for our high school scholars. The new building is conveniently located near our current Copewood campus and in the backyard of our Mt. Ephraim campus! The site offers a lot of amenities for your children, and we are looking forward to sharing more about these details in the coming weeks. In the coming months, we want to work with you to consider all of the factors that will make the project a success, both for our school as well as the larger community. We will be reaching out with more information in the coming weeks about how you can help advocate for our forever home (e.g., writing letters of support to elected officials, phone banking to garner community support, attending and/or speaking at public meetings, etc.) We look forward to sharing more details soon!

Resources

March is Spiritual Wellness Month at Uncommon!

Spiritual wellness is when individuals feel a sense of meaning and choose to live by their own personal beliefs. It is a personal matter that allows us to know what we want, need and believe, while also empowering us to learn more about others! Spiritual wellness empowers us to search for meaning and purpose in our daily lives. It also allows us to learn how to balance our needs with the needs of others. Exercising the soul helps keep us balance, motivated, and excited about learning and about life. Below are a few resources to help you practice your spiritual wellness!
